Judging from quotes I've heard and read from the players I don't get the sense at all that they have a chip on their shoulder. They seem very confident and I haven't ever heard one of them say anything related to them being over hyped or over-rated. They have high expectations and plan on living up to them, confident that they will do so with the players currently on the roster.

We know exactly what the bulk of our defense is. The only questions are Al Harris, Shields, and if we can actually develop a pass rush. There aren't too many terribly unfamiliar faces on the roster this year.

There is a chip of erasing last years playoff game, but that chip can't be removed until the playoffs this year. So going into the regular season there isn't any more of a chip than any defense that wants to improve frorm the prior year.

I don't think playing with a chip on their shoulders is a good thing per se, or a bad thing per se. I don't think this is a group that naturally shapes up with a chip on their shoulder. I think they're a naturally confident group. It works for them. If that is what works for them why would you want them to have some unnatural chip on their collective shoulder.

I find it a farce in general if a team needs to have a chip to be motivated to play at their best. More a tool of media to have something to talk about imho.

Last year, they looked impressive in the preseason, and because of that, they may have lost some of their edge coming into the regular season. This year, they haven't looked very good in the preseason, and they haven't even all been on the field at the same time, so they will have something to prove right off the bat. So yeah, I think they may have a bit of a chip on their shoulder. And that can sometimes be a help.

Mucky Tundra (6h) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (7h) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.

beast (12h) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.

Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
