It's actually really funny how everyone, including most Viking fans, rip on the ineptness of Childress when his track record of building a team, drafting, and production on-field has been nothing short of great. If the win-loss record indicates ANYTHING, I'd say we have a winner.. Year 1: 6-10, year 2: 8-8, year 3: 10-6, year 4: 12-4 That's improvement in my book.

The stats certainly back you, I can't deny that. But some may think there is more to the story then simply their win and loss record ;-)

Plus, I'll still rip on Childress and every other Viking regardless what the stats say because, well . . . they're Vikings and it's fun!!

Rourke, I tend to be as well because no matter what one believes.. It's pointless to inject any sort of logic. But today I feel a little feisty. =)

Also, I would like to add that first off, I'm not saying Chilly is the second coming. All I'm saying him and the Vikings organization/front office have done the best I've seen in my lifetime. In a three year span, the Vikings have draft two Offensive Rookies of the Year. What did they do with their first round pick in between the OROTY? Traded it for Jared Allen. Yeah, they had some weird draft picks (moved up to draft T-Jack and Cook), but those are more than acceptable when you get the likes of Chad Greenway, Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Percy Harvin, and I'll even throw in Cedric Griffin.

I'm also saying I'm quite content with the staff/FO the Vikings have. Perfect blend of drafting for the future and acquiring free agents to fill in the gaps. The biggest issue I have ever had with the current FO/Chilly is how they handled the QB issue the past 4 years.

You watch some of the game planning and in game decisions... that to me reflects more on Childress than the W/L record.

And we all know that Childress isn't running the Vikings draft and Free agency..

And to be quite honest.. his development of QB's is very sub par.. his play calling with TJ behind center was almost laughable, he did nothing to help the young QB out.. and probably stunted his development because of it.

I will stand by my case that the Vikings win despite of their head coaches shortcomings.

No, Childress is one of 3 heads that runs the draft and free agency. He only did extensive interviews with Harvin and Allen.. AND their families.. And I'm sure he's done some research on a few of the other acquisitions as well.

About the QB development.. I don't think anyone can call him out on that, one way or another.. Yeah, he kinda threw him under the bus his rookie year and such.. But I don't think ANY QB coach could have saved what T-Jack went through. I mean.. It's T-Jack for the love! Childress brought in a system he envisioned. With the addition of a QB that knows it, he's proven that his system/Kick Ass Offense works.

While I suppose Childress must get credit for helping build the team, I have to think that a coach with that kind of talent better put together some good seasons. I mean, c'mon, they are loaded top to bottom essentially. If any coach flopped with such a roster they would see the door quickly.

I agree. And there's no denying that Chilly doesn't have high standards for the next season. Even if he doesn't, the fan base does. I mean, there's only one way to do better than last year, and that's actually MAKE it to the big game. There's no doubting going 12-4 is a good season.. but if it's a continuance of one and dones in the playoffs.. then he'll be on the hot seat. But, that's down the road. Right now, Childress is sitting pretty. lol

I agree, and so does the front office apparently. I can't help but wonder how long he would be around if it wasn't for Favre though. I'm pretty sure he would have been sitting in 2nd place in the NFC North and still no answer at QB. I know that he went out and kissed ass to bring Favre in so he gets credit but beyond that I don't know. Favre took that team to another level which really isn't saying that much considering who he was replacing.

But bringing in Favre bought him a few more years minimum that's for sure so I guess it was a good idea, for him at least.
