With Kamp in, the O knows that he will most likely blitz and that stops us from blitzing the inside backers. With an OLB who can cover, the O has no idea where the blitzes are coming from. OK, it was one game, but that was a very good O.

What I noticed is this.

We went with a lot more exotic blitzes. I think to cover up for Kampman not being in there and not having that designated DE/OLB. I don't think that Dallas was expecting that.

This was the 'playfull' defense that we saw in pre-season. A lot of unorthodox blitzing, people coming up from the secondary.

I don't think that Kampman is a real liability, I just think that Capers overrates him. Left without a choice, we brought multiple people. I just hope that we keep this going once Kampman does get back.

I don't think absence of Kampman had much to do with any increased success. I saw a lot of individual battles won that lead to pressure and great plays. We had a great swarming D, kept everything in front of us and had a great tackling effort.

Look at it this way. If kampman was in, we would have been even MORE dominate with the pass rush.

I couldn't help thinking throughout this game that Kampman's ticket out of Green Bay may have been stamped today.

He still leads the team in quarterback pressures. Jones is a more versatile/athletic guy, but I think the Packers feel Kampman has a lot of value in our defense. The sack numbers aren't there, but he has been productive.

I also think too much is made about Kampy in coverage. It seems to be a talking point for just about everyone. Personally I think it's hard to think he won't get a lot better in the scheme. The problem is of course the timeframe of that improvement given his contract status.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I just think the defense demonstrated that they don't need him today, as much of a luxury as he might be, so the Packers might be tempted to get some kind of value for him in the off season instead of trying to continue wedging him into the 3-4 scheme.

This reminds me of how when KGB was not playing vs the Niners a while back...

The Packers stopped the run and the D played better..Next thing we know KGB was done
