That's the problemn with the team at the moment.

The groundstaff have more passion and pride than the team does.

The players never seem to realise in any sport the passion and pride a fan feels.

When we lose as a fan it hurts like hell and that feeling of depression really does get to you.

I truly wonder if the players and coaching staff even get it sometimes.

Kidding me? Half these guys, as long as their pay check is there every week, whatever else happens happens. Losing a football game when you make 3, 5, 7 million per year doesnt hurt much. They have other things to think about such as spending their money, making more money, having fun with their money, giving strippers and hookers their money and banging groupies who want their money. I guess I cant really fault them too much. If you had 20 or 30 million in the bank, would you care as much about the little things? Would you let some guy(coach) talk down to you for something small? Nahh. "I got my money, F.U. "

Suppose the guy said something that was truly unacceptable, e.g. something like "Hey McCarthy, you asshole, how come you don't get on those asshole OL's for being asshole useless"? Why, after he said "all I said was this innocuous thing here", didn't they say, "he didn't say something innocuous, he was disrespectful and insubordinate"? That they didn't do this suggests to me either:

Yeah because entering a he said, she said thing publicly is so professional!

I don't agree with that theory as it assumes the person giving the official statement was aware of the wording used in the article.

Two things:
1. Quoting the "corporate policy" is what PR people do. It isn't what company leaders should be doing.
2. It's part of the job description for those who "give official statements": know what the fuck is being said out there before taking an official stance.

*We* shouldn't be expected to know. The Packer admin should. Or someone (else) at 1265 is not doing their job.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

You have GOT to be shitting me. You guys made this up. I'm being messed with, here.

Mike McCarthy is about the last person on this planet qualified to make a judgement regarding a verbal faux pas.

This is right up there with boy wonder Dan Snyder shit-canning a significant portion of the employees for cost-cutting measures due to "economic realities" within days of signing Haynesworth. I expect that kind of thing from the likes of a Dan Snyder.

Who the fuck does Mike McCarthy think he is? You are a fucking toll-taker that has had some huge breaks in life, friend.

If Bob Harlan was still running this team I would be speed dialing his ass effective immediately until I had him on the phone.

This is bullshit. Someone is dismantling much of the things that make this organization so special to so many.

You motherfuckers (GB Packers organization, as presently configured) better be very, very careful. This might seem like a small thing to you, but I am here to tell you that you are relying upon a passionate fanbase that has certain notions about how things are run in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

What's the waiting list, 80k? Go ahead and piss off the Packer fanbase and watch how fragile that list is.

When we say "we" when talking about the Packers, we are also saying that how you operate is how we would like "our" team to operate. Our sense of ownership has alot more to do with a values system than some stock certificate.

Someone needs to put McCarthy on the media griddle for this one. I want to see what kind of backstroke Mike McCarthy has for this move. What did he do, bitch at the head maintenance guy about this? What a bitch...Who the FUCK does he think he is? (sorry redundant, lol) I hope this costs him his job. I am fucking serious. He should be made to apologize for this arrogant bullshit. Hey Mike, even Patton couldn't roll with that kind of arrogance and get away with it.

I'm going to bitch

Exactly. I became a packer fan for a few reasons. Favre and Reggie White were big reasons. A bigger reason was the tradition and how different it was from all the other teams. It was a wholesome environment with the players riding bikes with kids on the handle bars in pre season, the fact that it was publicly owned, etc.

I feel like it's been taken over recently by ruthless business people who will step on anyone who doesn't agree with their style.

I bet if each one of us sent them 5 faxes per day stating our displeasure, that guy would get his job back and Mike McCarthy would be gone. Too bad i'm too lazy and self absorbed to do something like that :thumbright:

The question I don't see being asked is why it took several days after the comment for him to be fired? If McCarthy or anyone else had a problem with it, why wasn't something said to him on the spot? This current administration has some of the most screwed up communication issues I've ever seen.

For all we know this guy did say something out of line but we are already mad at McCarthy so we are going to assume he is telling the truth and it's McCarthy's fault.

I bet if earlier in the year this same maintenance worker had say run over Rodgers foot on accident with a golf cart and forced him to miss a game or two nobody would be making a big deal about him getting fired now for making a "statement" because we would already be mad at him.

One more thing.
Mike McCarthy was talking to the grounds crew at the time of the alleged incident. Just how friggin' hard is it for a GBP Gazette reporter or the JS reporter, to go ask the fellow grounds crewmen what was said?

22 years of service.

Does that sound like a slacker to you?

The Packers themselves said he was terminated for something he said.

Just exactly WTF could he have said to:

A-- Get Fired for it.

B-- Mike McCarthy (apparently) have no recollection of it, at least to where he "did not read the newspaper?"

C-- For this guy to subsequently LIE about it.

Look. It is obvious the shouted something to the head coach of the organization that he works for. I do not believe for a moment that he shouted something encouraging.

The grounds keeper guy is a packer fan, that much is clear. You just needed to be on the live chat here last Sunday at the end of the game to know for a fact the chances were about zero that he was shouting encouragement.

I have a feeling the part time grounds keeper guy is an idiot. (Ala Bill Murray the grounds keeper in Caddy Shack.) You just do not shout at anyone you work with.

It is very simple... do your job. He was not hired as a cheerleader, or as a critic, so it does not matter what the fuck he yelled at him.

Now he has been given a career adjustment.... Justly I would think.

This story is going to get bigger, not smaller, imo.

It will not just be the fans of the Green Bay Packers pitching a fit.

Just watch. ESPN is going to be on this...opposing teams, etc.

Five faxes, my phone call... that shit is irrelevant. My "theory" remains that Mike McCarthy bitched about it, the guy's boss over-reacted, and shit-canned the guy.

One other is that one of the guy's co-workers told the guy's boss what he said and the guy's boss shit-canned him.

The important thing is that this one will not go away based on what Mike McCarthy said. This much I know.

He is such an incredible fuck up when it comes to responding to a reporter, regardless of the truth of this matter. This thread is absolutely perfectly titled. This has NOTHING to do with him as a coach...for me...personally...

I am standing by my "end of this season" for MM.

Unless this is true.
