Martin and Brohm I have no problems with cutting. Three years of Martin never getting any better than a #5 wideout. Brohm, well, you were supposed to be a NFL ready QB out of college. That has proven to not be the case, or at least not in the Packers system. We have our obvious #2 in Flynn, I have no issues with this. Go get Garcia now, that'll do.

I don't know what the league average is for RBs that make the final 53. Seems like I would have thought 4, so surprised to see only 3. The flip side of the 3 RBs is the 3 FBs. I'm a little surprised that Ted Thompson didn't have the balls to cut one of the Hall or Kuhn. Though STs shouldn't be overlooked with our recent history.

Bring da Bears.

1- Sutton should of stayed.
2- Brohm, we could of tooken a chance one more year (Harrell is still on this team).
3- Harrell should of been gone.
4- Martin couldn't care less, like another poster mentioned at best #5 WR.
5- Glad we kept 3 FB's
6- Sutton > Wynn IMO.

I'm a bit surprised at Evan Dietrich-Smith. Anybody besides me think they might be planning to use him as backup C and trading Wells?

I think hyphenated last names are lame, particularly on a man. 6:30

I'm surprised that we let go Smith and Martin more than anyone.. I also thought Sutton guaranteed himself a spot -- I do hope we get him back on the practice squad.. if he's willing.

Smith: I think we should of kept Smith, I feel like our depth at S has been trimmed largely now..

Martin: Even though I'm shocked, I am not THAT disappointed with letting Martin go.. Time to see what Brett Swain can do.. anyone know his 40 time? I'll just google it.

Harrell back on the IR.. we should of cut him.. I'm sick of this guy and his constant injuries! Pat Lee.. out again.. wow.. where's the durability in some of these "pro" athletes.

As for our QB situation..

I think we should sign Garcia.. sure, he hasn't put up huge numbers in recent years but he WINS games & brings that veteran experience into the QB position. I feel like if Rodgers were to go down.. we could turn to Garcia to win games more so than Flynn, even though Jeff would probably be listed as third string if we were to sign him.

Does Smith play much ST? Bush is quite good at special teams, isn't he? Packers seem to REALLY value special teams contribution.

Smith cut makes no sense

"NormaL" wrote:

It's makes some sense if you think about it...

When Smith was signed, the scouting report on him was that he was too slow to be a true FS, and while he tackled well he did not have the ability to be decent in pass coverage.

Sound like someone else on our team? Yeah... Atari Bigby. Smith would have been redundant.

When you add the fact that Smith gave you nothing on Special Teams (remember, he got into Tomlin's doghouse last year for giving lackluster effort on ST) then he brought almost no versatility other than being your 3rd safety.

In addition, if the rumours are true that Smith presented chemistry problems... well then you can see his release is based on some solid factors.

Smith made a couple of plays - I agree. That INT against the Cards game was real nice - but not something that someone like Rouse (see Colts game last year) hasn't also done. Smith made a great read, and jumped on the ball. Rouse did that last year on Manning, while covering Reggie Wayne.

Keep in mind that Smith was also a player on our 2nd team defense - which was down right horrid most of the time it was on the field. Smith made his shares of mistakes too...

There's no way Sutton goes to the PS, im sure somebody will take him. This sucks. I hope we can get him back somehow, Meredith too. Those are the shockers.. and Smith.. list kinda goes on.

Zero2Cool (2h) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (20h) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.

dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
