I'm watching some stuff on Noah's Ark. I'm confused as heck here.

Noah was 500 years old when informed of the flood? WHAT?
Noah built a boat that was 450 ft by 160 ft wide? Really? Where is it now?
The flood? Where did the water come from? Where did it go? Granted, its surely in pieces, but there has to be some traces to it, right?

God administered this flood because he didn't appreciate how Adam and Eve were handling human life? Why did God become a mass murderer then? Why didn't he just do what we do when we make an error on paper, crumple it up and throw it away? Start over with a new planet instead of murdering all of his 'children'.

First, man was much closer to perfection back then. It wasn't unusual for people to live 800 or more years. Noah was "middle aged" when he and his sons built the ark. Plus it wasn't really a "boat". All it was made to do was float.
It was all wood too. So why be surprised that it has rotted away in all this time?
God gave mankind SEVERAL chances to straighten out. But Noah and his family were the only ones that obeyed God.
God made us with FREE WILL. He COULD have made a bunch of robots, but he wanted people that would FREELY obey Him.

Just like in today's world, mankind can read the Bible, and follow it, and reap the rewards. Or scoff at it, call God a liar, and ignore all He shows to us.
Again, WE make the choice for ourselves in the end.
God WARNED Adam and Eve what would happen if they disobeyed Him. They CHOSE to disobey. Was God suppoed to just forget what He said, and say "It's ok.....you can do whatever you want with NO consequences".? Sounds pretty much the way people act today, doesn't it? And thats one big reason why today's world is so messed up.
People want to do whatever they want, and don't care how it affects others.

I said it would be in pieces by now, that's understandable. What boggles my mind is something so significant being just tossed aside and not preserved in any form of resemblance.

And the perception I'm getting from what you said is that God created people because he wanted to be obeyed? Sounds like he was on a power trip! lol j/k! 🙂 (I'm going to make a world of people, and if they obey me, they will be okay, if they disobey, I will make them pay!)

I believe there's a higher power, but there's too many holes in the aspects of it all, not to mention the dozens upon dozens of variations of the translations. I just don't understand how there's so many God's in this world that are credited for creating the world. Who's the real God? And what does that say about the religions following the 'other' Gods?

This is what I'm always wondering about, as well. Judasm was there before Christianity. Its all about the same God, but the stories differ. Then we have the Islam. Again, about the same God, but he's preaching to Abraham to get his actual stroy accross, after it got 'written down wrong' before by Christians and Jews.

Then you have all these other religions. Some even without Gods.

All these western religions just seem like such a great way to keep your people down in the old times. That most of these religions are maintained bases on fear of doing things wrong, would nearly obsolete law enforcement. I think it worked pretty well at first.

Then again, when you do good, you get good. It's a very fair deal and a very solid foundation for religion. It would be something you would expect from a god and something that does make a lot of sense.

It's just hard.

one theory I heard was that the flood wasnt the entire world, but rather the same section of area Noah lived..

I have always thought of this...

You speak to GOD your religious ......but if he speaks to you your nutts?

I believe the flood was the entire world. Otherwise, why wouldn't God just tell Noah "Hey Noah......take your family and WALK to higher ground".

Plus, the fossil record shows that the entire world was flooded. The layers laid down in what is now rock all over the world shows it.
Again, if it was a local flood, animals and birds would just go to other areas, right? But they were buried, and became fossilized. There was no where for them to go. There was water EVERYWHERE.

Zero.......how can someone explain "faith?" Faith is believeing what you can't see. I can explain till i'm blue in the face how God has changed me, but unless YOU take that step of faith, it won't make sense to you.

I'm not asking anyone to explain "faith". I did say I believe there was a higher power. The specifics that are thrown around, are variations with every religion. That is what confuses me the most.

The funny part is, if you check all around the world, they all have their "story" of the great flood.
Thats another reason why i believe what the Bible says.
Plus, Noah took 2 of each KIND of animal onto the ark. When he took dogs, he didn't take 2 wolves, 2 foxes, 2 dingos, 2 chihuahuas, 2 doberman pinchers, and so on. He took 2 dogs. Every offshoot we have of dog "kinds" came from those 2 dogs that were on the ark. I've had people laugh when i say that, that all the kinds of dogs came from "just" TWO dogs. Yet these are the same people that believe that EVERYTHING in the world came from a ROCK "millions and millions of years" ago.
So they scoff at the Bible, but swallow the evolution story with blind faith.

Zero.......all i can say is, if you research each "religion", you WILL find flaws in all of them. That is because MAN messes everything up. Thats why i don't follow a "religion". I follow what the Bible says. If a religious leader tells me one thing, and it contradicts what the Bible says, i do what the Bible says. I've had that happen in ALL churches i have been in, or have studied.
If you put your trust (faith) in man, you WILL be let down.
All i can say to do is, put your trust in God. Don't let all the details worry you. If you trust in Him, He will show you the way.
I know it's asking alot, to just open up and allow Him in, but trust me, you won't be let down.
Look at what religion teaches, and i can understand why you would be confused.
Look at it this way. Go back 100 years, and if you told people back then what we have today, airplanes, TV's, color movies, computers in the home that you can litterally talk to people all over the world, automobiles that allow people to travel farther in one day then people traveled in a year, in ONE DAY, telephones that you can carry in your pocket and call people all over the world........they would laugh in your face and think you were crazy! Yet today we take it for granted. If man can do all this, imagine what God can do!
I honestly believe that the reason you believe in a higher power, is that God is letting you know that he IS there, he IS real.
I have had things happen to me that can't be explained. And most people probably wouldn't even believe me if i told them these things. But i'll tell you, it PROVED God to me. But it ONLY happened once i "gave up" and said "OK, God......I BELIEVE in you and TRUST you."
Does that mean everything in my life will be hunky dorry? Nope. But i know in my heart where I will spend eternity, which makes whatever happens to me down here bearable.
