Favre's persona has changed so much through this two-year circus.

I respectfully disagree. I think it's the public's perception of his persona that has changed. I think the scales are finally falling off people's eyes.

I'm sorry if your insulted. READ THE DAMN QUESTION!!!

Where did I say I feel insulted? I've never stated, nor even implied, that I was in favor of the booing. I have stated repeatedly that I don't expend any emotional energy on this situation. Moreover, I've spoken out against booing many times in the past, as I don't see what it will accomplish. However, I do believe your statement came close to crossing the line into "true fan" delineation, somewhat analogous to Favre's statement that "true fans will understand" and "if you don't like it, don't watch." I don't think it's anyone's prerogative to base evaluations of fanhood on how others emotionally react to a given situation. Not to mention the fact that Favre fanhood is not a prerequisite of Packer fanhood; they're entirely separate issues.

Also I asked a very specific question: How do Lambeau fans react when opposing teams take the field, and why should they react any different because a former Packer now plays for the opposition? I doubt the fans react any different to the Vikings because Ryan Longwell or Darren Sharper or Robert Ferguson played for them. Again, I ask because I've never been there, and I'm truly curious. Unfortunately, you took my statements as a personal attack, when I thought I made it clear I was trying to understand the situation.

Ah, well.

The circus around this game will be insane. I wonder how many idiots will be wearing Favre's Packers jersey and chearing for the Viqueens? We'll see who the true fans are and who are simply bandwagoneers. Twice this year Favre will rekindle the old magic for Packers fans, throwing touchdown after touchdown to the Green Bay [strike]wide recieivers[/strike] cornerbacks. I have to admit that no one throws a season destroying interception like Brett. It's gonna be fun to watch the trainwreck.

I smell a lot of bs in this thread like those saying that they've never booed before. Yeah right....

Everyone has and there isn't anything wrong with it. You boo the opposition and cheer whoever is on your side. Just like you boo the official when he makes a bad call that goes against your team.

It's called being human and having emotion.

It's not classless. Classless would be wishing injury or worse yet cheering if he got hurt. Packer fans will not boo if Brett Favre gets hurt when they play. That I guarantee you. They didn't boo Adrian Peterson when he got hurt at Lambeau and they never will if he gets hurt.

They'll boo them at introduction though because they're Vikings.

You want to know what's classless? Eagles fans booing Michael Irvin in a stretcher. That's classless.

I do agree that this will blow over in time though, but there shouldn't be anything wrong with booing.

Another thing that is getting to me is this myth that Packer fans owe it to Brett Favre to cheer him on and buy his jerseys from other teams. What? Packer fans don't owe him anything. Favre is playing football and has given Packer fans all kinds of great memories, but he's been will compensated for it.

Boo him, he is a viking. Cheer him when he throws the packers a pick, and cheer for him when the vikings lose. If I make it to the game I don't know if I will boo him or not during intros. Probably boo. Though he may have done great things for the packers in the PAST, it is currently 2009 and at the current time he is a viking and wants to beat the packers.

I agree with everything you said. I am also not "above" booing my own team if they deserve it.

For example in baseball I will boo ANY player that doesn't run out a ground ball. As a Cardinals fan, I don't care if you are Albert Pujols or Skip Schumaker; if you lolly gag to first on a ground ball you are going to hear it from me.

There are also situations in football when I would boo the Packers. Stupid penalties, poor clock management, not playing hard, Derrick Frost, etc. If they don't like it, tough shit. Do your job.

I booed derrick frost last year at the games I went to. Maybe I should or shouldn't but I paid for the ticket and derrick frost has some crappy punts. It wasn't one bad play that led to the booing it was the fact the they were all bad.

Me, one of my favorite things to do when at a game is to not cheer or boo. Just to listen to all thats going on with the other fans. You really appreciate how LOUD it is when you are there and just listen, without cheering yourself.
Try it sometime, and really pay attention. It's pretty neat.
Oh......didn't mean to go off topic.
When Favre retires (for the last time) i HOPEFULLY will still be around and able to go with Trippster to his HOF ceremony. I won't care WHAT other team he played with at that time, he will be "my" QB again.
I will never hate BF. He gave me WAY too many good memories.
