Actually, you do not pay his salary. Whomever the owner of the team he suits up for pays his salary. We just pay the price of the tickets/merchandise. The only info we 'deserve' to know, is how much those players are getting paid. Which we do.

Why do you deserve to know their salaries? Should sutomers of my bank be able to know how much I make just becasue I have entered into a legal agreement to work for the bank? Don't think so.

We know the jist of the salaries because it is leaked to the reporters. Teams and players share for negotiating reasons.

We as fans don't deserve an answer.....period.

"longtimefan" wrote:

Given the fact we fans pay his salary, yes, in fact, we do.

After listening to Jay Glazer's interview on Chris Myers and Steve Hartman's Fox Sports Radio show, I still don't believe Favre will actually suit up in purple this year.

Its the same as saying to a cop I pay your salary

"Trippster" wrote:

not the same LT. we HAVE to pay taxes which in turn pays the cop. We do NOT have to pay for the tickets and merchandise.

Government/private sector......big differences.

Actually, this supports LT's argument, not yours. We choose to pay for these players' salaries; therefore, they are accountable to us, just as the owner of a restaurant or the cashier at Target is accountable to us, the customers.

And again, these players are public figures. They are in a totally different realm from you as a private citizen. Whether they like it or not (and I personally wouldn't), they have a reduced expectation of privacy. If they don't like it, they need to bitch to the Supreme Court.

It was not Favre's choice to be carted around. He enjoyed the fans more than most understand. He said something about the kids love the game for the game, not for the other stuff in it and he always liked seeing that look in kids eyes.

Yes, I know we, as fans, pay for the jersey's, tickets, etc.. By choice. And, yes, I do know that in turn that money lines the owners' pockets, who in turn use that money to pay their players' contracts.

That is why we deserve to know how much a player makes.

But to make an outrageous claim that we as fans deserve to know why any player does what he does.. Whether it be NFL involved or in his private life... is just that. Outrageous. And rude, IMO.

Funny thing is.. In this circumstance, even if we did get the answer from Favre as to why this stuff is still popping up in the media... How many people do you think would actually believe him? And burn his 'image' at the stake? More so than not, I'd think.

The only people that deserve to know why a player chooses what he does as far as the NFL is concerned is the teams' owners/front office/coaches. Not us fans.

I find this to be a gross misrepresentation of the position we're advocating here. We (or at least I) are not saying we're entitled to some sort of expos of the motives of the parties involved. I do not think, however, that a clear, unambiguous description of the situation is too much to ask. Is he coming back or not? Has he actually signed a contract or not? Is he currently in contact with Vikings players? If not, why do so many players seem to think he's coming back? A clear "yes" or "no" and none of this "At this time" prevarication. Surely it cannot be so difficult to give an answer that is honest for more than 12 hours at a time.

Silence is a necessity when you're accused of a crime. In this situation, it only fans the flames of media hype. And both Brett Favre and Bus Cook know this full well.

For cripes sake!! Who the heck cares, if Favre plays, then he plays, if he dont then he dont, I for one would love to see him suit up again and I will support him. Favre is always a big story and the media runs away with it, we dont know what is true or what is false, we are only guessing. I for one have better things to do then worry about Favre coming back. I for one would be the happiest if he decides to return and I for one dont care if it takes him til the middle of the season to make up his mind. It dont effect me either way.
