Saw this as well. It's just a tad short of insanity to me, but hey, we'll see.

My prediction, he'll be on his back most of the time, he'll be trying to dump off to receiver who aren't called Wes Welker and he'll get some picked/dropped and he'll try to throw it deep to receivers who aren't named Randy Moss and will get some more picks.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like for this kid to succeed, but I just think that he won't be the answer for the Chiefs and that Thigpen will eventually take over (Watch this kid, he'll go somewhere).

Still, it is a nice confidence booster and Pioli obviously has some trust in him and he ought to know more than we do. We'll see how this turns out.

a five-year extension that gives him six more years for $65 million, including $40.5 million in first three years of the contract they can be compared.

And Rodgers contract now makes him, remarkably, the fourth highest paid quarterback in the game, behind only Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer and Ben Roethlisberger.

Rodgers salary-cap number this season jumped from about $1.7 million this season to close to $14 million. In the next two years, Rodgers will make $21 million. Good move on the Packers part, getting the deal done and in now, bad move on our part not to wait for the day to close."

So whats the difference?
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Rodgers cap number is 9.659440 million this year, not 14 million.

The difference you ask?

Rodgers already got his signing bonus, the bulk of it has been paid, cap-wise, all of it salary-wise, the salaries are escalating rapidly, there is NO CAP next year, his prsb for this year is only 1.052 mil. We have 22 mil. AT LEAST left to sign the rest of our players this year if we so choose, Jay Cutler will be next and is more akin to what Rodger's value is ..it will be HUGE, btw.

Rodgers has to earn the bulk of everything he makes, and you can't count and never have been able to.

That is the difference.

Edit--- HA, found the rest of the numbers---

What if the cap is re-instated, one might ask?

Cap for '10 6.5 mil.
Cap for '11 7.75 mil
Cap for '12 8.5 mil
Cap for '13 9.75 mil
Cap for '14 11 mil

Not counting the 5 million a year that Dhazer adds to every contract for every year for every Packer player Ted signs. :thumbleft:

NFLN just flashed up the top seven to ten QB's pay for 2009. (It was hard to count them all) Cassel was 2nd at 15 milliion for this year, behind Schaub at 17.5 million.

Rodger's wasn't even on the list.

and btw neither Rodgers or Cassel deserve that kind of money for one season of playing.

Well Dave, the good news is that if anyone ever argues with Brandon over at ACME Packing company, he can come over here and grab your post and link it to his site and make both of you friggin' experts on the matter.
