While being behind Rodgers threw 258 passes, with 2058 yards, 62% comp, 14 TDs, 10 INTs, sacked 21 times, and a 89 qb rating.

While being ahead Rodgers threw 150 passes, 1132 yards, 67% comp, 8 TDs, 2 INTs, sacked 5 times, 102 qb rating.

While being tied Rodgers threw 128, 848 yards, 62.5% comp, 6 TDS, 1 INTs, sacked 8 times, 94 qb rating.

Here is what stands out to me:

158 more passes thrown while being behind then ahead.

Here is what stands out MOST to me:

sacked 21 times while being behind
sacked 5 times while being ahead

Does the o line just give up when they are behind?

no........

When behind late in games opposing defensive lines KNOW you have to pass,so they just go all out to get the q/b...

This is a GREAT Post.

I LOVE posts like this with NUMBERS, STATS, And most of all... It ends with a question.

Now... For Me... I have to respond later..... (Been on planes and traveling.)

This is a great post "Cheeseheads123"

I will think about this as I lay my head on my pillow in 15 minutes, and get back to this thread tomorrow.

GREAT POST.... Post more often.

I agree, it seems like Cheeseheads123 is posting what I would if I wasn't so damn lazy.

So many variables like holding on to the ball a little too long, quarterback pressing, pass protection break down, missed blocking assignment, being tired, defense dropping every body back knowing we will pass, musical chair o-line.

Refreshing Post. You did your homework, and the numbers are worth discussing.

It doesn't have to be late in the game for the defense to know you're going to have to pass more. When you're behind there is a greater since of urgency, even if it's early in the game as you won't want to fall further behind and be at risk of being blown out. This leads to more passing downs and more importantly more 5 and 7 step drops as opposed to 3 step drops. This should explain a large part of the increase in sacks.

Or maybe it has something to do with the fact you're more likely to be losing to a team that is good (and has a good pass rush) than to one that sucks. Also, if you're pass protecting well you're more likely to be winning. This could also play a huge role in what we're seeing with the statistics.

That said, maybe the line gets frustrated when they're behind and actually do start to give up. As you said a lot of variables could go into this so it's hard to know for sure what the exact cause is or if there even is a causal relationship (though there probably is one).
