Speaking before Round 1 against the Saints, Packers coach LaFleur said there would not be any one-on-one drills on Tuesday for fear of those spirited battles sparking fights.

Dafney hasn't been released by the Packers before, last year, he went to the IR and was later brought back, and the year before he was signed to the PS (wasn't on the roster in training camp) and then made his way to the 53 man roster.

I honestly thought they would keep only four TEs and he was #5... but I'm surprised they released him so soon.

Thanks. I didn't look up his history. I knew he wasn't on the original 53 and had been on the PS at some point.
