Usually first-year eligible candidates have the best shot, which this year includes
DB Ronde Barber
LG Steve Hutchinson
LB Ray Lewis
WR Randy Moss
LB Brian Urlacher

Butler's first year eligible was in 2007... so it took him a decade just to get into the semi-finals.

As much as I would like to see Butler get in at some point, I doubt he makes it.
This will be another Jerry Kramer scenario I fear.

I don't see it either. I just don't think he was good enough.

Of those 1st year players I think Moss, Hutchinson and Lewis will be first balloters. I think Urlacher will get in but it may take a couple of years. Don't know enough about Barber to really say but he reminds me a lot of Butler. Very good but just not HOF material.

This is true and IMO it gives hope for Butler. Personally I don't think he did enough but then I don't think a lot of the players getting in did enough. Lucky for them I'm not a voter.
