Am I going nuts or did Pinkard look huge in the preseason game? Was checking out his bio to see his weight and was expecting something like 250 but he's sub-200. So much for my "Convert him to TE" suggestion.

In fact, none of his measurable are all that impressive. But you know what is impressive? How he’s been doing on the practice field at St. Norbert for the past couple of weeks.

Wow, kind of sounds like the Anti-Janis. Let's see what else Rodney says:

Pinkard, who was given modest $3K bonus to sign, might not have blazing speed, but he shows good separation quickness in his routes coming out of breaks. And once he gets open, his hands appear to be reliable. He extends to make receptions away from his frame and plucks the ball from the air. He also adjusts well to bad throws.

Yup, yup, yup, yup, yup and yup.

If there's any truth to the idea Abbrederis will retire or get IRed, Pinkard would be the logical choice as 6th WR. Otherwise, I hope we can keep him around on the practice squad.

Adrian Coxson was the speed merchant of the group and I liked Pinkard better. Pinkard just had a look of a big time player. Watch his YouTube clips...he's phenomenal with it in his hands and his hands are great as well.

He has 4.51 speed which is better than Davante's and right there with Jordy's.

Everytime they show this kid on Family Night or vs. New England he's open. Sure, maybe he's not when they're not but I can see he's really really open when they show him. Guy can get deep. I want to see him on a shallow cross so he can run with it. That's what I really liked about him and thought he fit our mold of a guy who can really churn the yards after the catch. He's a diamond in the rough.

His fate hinges on Janis and Abbrederis. Janis has scored 3 TD's in pre season games and took back a return vs. KC that looked really good. He's going to be hard to give up on. Abby was a 5th rounder. Pinkard might be better than both but really hard to tell unless he gets some time with the big boys and I hope he shows enough to get it.

Think Pink!

There was a hometown site that listed him at 6'2:

and here's the blurb on him from one of those lovely fan sites:

5. Larry Pinkard stands out among peers: Pinkard may have dropped what should have been a touchdown catch in the end zone at Family Night on Saturday, but he's apparently out to make up for it with a diving catch on Tuesday, reported by Wes Hodkiewicz of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

From what I've seen, Pinkard is the best of the six rookie free agent wide receivers on the Packers roster. And that might be easy to say with Ricky Collins on the PUP list and Adrian Coxson sidelined by a concussion, but Pinkard has stood out.

Pinkard was also the target of a deep pass from Aaron Rodgers during an 11-on-11 segment of Saturday's Family Night practice, which shouldn't go unnoticed to be trusted by the reigning NFL MVP. It will be fun to watch how he performs relative to the rest of the rookie wideouts on Thursday evening.
