There are so many ways to get beat.
A defender could slip and fall and get beat.
A defender could get picked by another offensive player and get beat.
A defender could have the offensive player run past him and get beat.
A defender could be out of position and can't get to the offensive player and get beat.

They all have the same results. You can take as narrow of a view as you wish. that is fine with me. I look a the results and they are all the same. The defender did not do his job and the offense got yards and maybe a td thus the defender got beat.

Almost assuredly all of them. There is absolutely no incentive on the part of the Packers organization to spend money and bring in new players outside the draft or whatever is available wandering the streets and begging for a job.

They have a nucleus that will win more games than they lose. Because of this they will continue to sellout their games. They will continue to have a waiting list for season tickets. They have a ready made fan base of people who actually think they are owners of the team. They even let them show up for a meeting once a year so the fans can pretend to have a voice in the organizational decisions.

The fans will continue to buy the merchandise. They will continue to travel to Mecca and tour the facility spending tons of money in the process.

What is going to change that would require the Packers to field a Super Bowl caliber team instead of a better than average team that just might get lucky and win it all. The fans have repeatedly showed they are fine with this.

Baltimore got knocked out in the divisional round a couple times before they went to the SB
Patriots did the same before they made the superbowl in 2011
NO has missed the playoffs a couple times with Drew Brees and have had some WC and Divional losses
Giants miss the playoffs more than they make it
Steelers have been down for a couple years

Yeah, the Packers weren't actually a good team in 2010 they just "got lucky" [palm]

Other than that, though, and getting Matthews, Ted Thompson has been way below average in procuring quality players.

But we still could win it all this year - having Aaron Rodgers masks all weaknesses - O Line, D, RBs until this season, etc. With him out, it all comes to the surface.

That said, Ted has done an all time GREAT job stocking this team with talent. I'd take him over any GM in the league except maybe Ozzie Newsome.

There aren't really any "dominant" teams in the NFL anymore, per se. It's all just about getting to the playoffs and winning out. Anything can happen once you get there.

Sure, it helps to have your guys healthy and to have superior coordination on O and D. It helps to be the best team. But the best team doesn't always win it all.

If you make the playoffs, let's say you have a 20% chance to win it all. The way to win the Superbowl is to get into that position where you have that 20% chance, as often as possible. Chances are, if you do that 5 times, you'll win out once.
