:magnifyglass: Based on the rather fruitless game at Tampa and the previous week against Dalls, it would appear that Mike McCarthy has a major problem on his hands. Way too many penalties both sides of the ball, way too little "O" line blocking, rather inadequate play-calling. and now the defense seems to be falling apart, not to mention an injured QB.
And the schedule isn't exactly GB friendly from here on either. Once again, perhaps it's time to scrap the ZB for this "O" line as they don't appear to be able to handle it very well. Way too slow most of the time and they never really look that sharp. Be interesting to see if this team can rebound. If not the Ted Thompson boo birds will have a field day!

I think chibiabo had some honest criticisms:

1. Our OL sucks. Let's not sugar coat this nor bury our heads in the sand. This is something that needs to be addressed if we expect to win some Playoff games this year.

2. Which leads to the second part. Should we scrap the ZBS? It's not working for us.

If you mean scrap the ZBS for next year, it's not the worst idea in the world. If you're talking about this year, I'm not yet ready to admit defeat and start trying to re-tool anything. Let's let the group we expected to see starting get into a groove and see if they can improve. We're at .500 after four games w/ lots more football left to play.

But I think it's certainly reasonable to suggest that one big priority in the OS should be to examine the OL from top-to-bottom -- scheme, personnel, all of it. I'd like to actually be able to see how our young offensive backfield develops over the next few years, not watch them get butchered behind a porous line.

you mean like the exact freakin conversations we had last year about this time. About how badly the OL sucked. About how it was time to scrap the ZBS. these are not honest criticisms, they are rehashed whining from last year... you know the year we ended up in the NFC championship game.

I understand this team isn't perfect. but we arent the worst team in football, we don't need to scrap anything yet... and we damn sure arent out of the playoffs in week 4.

Everyone just breath.

I thought I wouldn't even have to imply that. I think everyone on this board is intelligent enough to know that you don't scrap a system mid-season, especially a system that requires an entirely different set of personnel.

So yes, wait until the off-season. It's not working for us. We probably don't have the coaching for the ZBS to work.

Hey, I realize you folks like to play rough with each other, but if you thought I was saying you were stupid you're wrong - not my style. I wasn't clear on your point, so I added that bit, and I do think we need to let the intended starters get a couple games under their belts to see what we've truly got at OL this year.

I don't do the flames, so in the future you can safely assume I'm not trying to run you down with any comment I might make.

Heh. No, not at all.

I was actually giving some credit to the level of posters on this board. I hope I didn't do it in a condescending way. If so, I apologize.

I have learned so much from people on this board. I thought I knew football, but there are so many people here who know it better than I do. That's why I write accordingly. I don't want to sound stupid.
