Makes me think of the Lawrence Welk trade Dan Devine once made.

They could have saved those picks and just sucked for Luck.

Carson Palmer is not worth a first and a second. That's not adding job security. That's adding pressure and painting a dark future.

There is no guarantee to get Andrew Luck, nor that he would pan out. That's fairly obvious.

If they land themselves a GM who can draft, that 1st, 3rd and 4th would have been far better than having been used on three QBs. Of course, this is purely hindsight. It's easy to criticize the Jason Campbell trade now, as it is easy to criticize the Terrell Pryor draft selection.

Another example of the win now, forget tomorrow mentality that dooms teams. Maybe they can send Pryor to the Dolphins for a 3rd or condition 4th? If he doesn't work out at WR and if that's their plan.

I don't think it's fair to criticize the Raiders for the prior two QB pickups because they didn't know they could get Carson Palmer. I just pointed it out facetiously.

Silly trade in my opinion. Potentially two first round picks for 32 year old Palmer? I haven't been impressed with this guy in a couple seasons anyway. Bengals fans must be happy about now though.

Some are saying Mike Brown's word means nothing now because he traded Carson Palmer. If he did not trade Carson, he would have been an idiot. A 1st round and 2nd round pick for a guy like Carson Palmer, you take that ... immediately. Because it is what is best for your franchise future.

Palmer put up some decent stats when he was playing last, but if you watched him much . . . he just looked bad. I'm no expert on him for sure, but I did have him in fantasy. I always thought he was a steal in the draft and was going to bust out at any moment. Occasionally I would watch him play and was amazed at how bad he was playing, relative to how he used to play, at least.

Perhaps he rejuvenates his career in Oakland. However, I do not see that team winning a super bowl under him and it was not worth a first and second round pick +. Oakland had the potential to add two more super stars to their team that could help them for the next 10+ years. Sure, there are no certainties, but no move in the NFL is. I still liked their chances though, as their recent drafts have been improving.

Palmer will add some stability to the team and probably improve them over the next couple of years if he stays healthy. I don't mind the trade for him, but I feel like they could have gotten him for less. It seems more of a desperate move to me. Perhaps they will be exciting to watch at times though with all of that speed and a big arm QB.

Gotta give the Bengals credit for this one. They took Oakland to the woodshed for a lesson in Team Management 101. Question, would you sooner have Palmer at this point or would you have sooner had Favre at the point the Jets got him? Big difference what each team paid.

I'd rather the 1st and 2nd round draft picks.
