You can't forget about the scoring and yardage numbers, because scoring rankings are based on exactly that ...scoring.

You are comparing 4 games(this year) to 16 games(last year). So let me do the work for you.

In 2010 Packers faced The Eagles, Bills, Bears, and Lions the 1st 4 weeks.

The Packers scored 116pts and gave up 73pts and went 3-1.

In 2011 Packers have faced The Saints, Panthers, Bears and Broncos

The Packers have scored 148 pts and have given up 107pts.

107-73= 27/4 = just to use a round number, The Packers have given up 7pts more a game through 4 games.

148-116=32/4=, The Packers are scoring 8pts more a game through 4 games.

It's hard to factor in The different teams, but I just don't see what all the panic is about, Packers are giving up more poins but they are also scoring more.

With every game, there are mistakes made, but there is also film of theses mistakes. I have full confidence in Dom and crew that the defense is going to tighten down as the year proceeds.

After 4 games last year, we were a +43 team. After 4 games this year, we're a + 41 team. So we're 2 points worse than last year. Not bad.

Going forward, either our O needs to pick up or our D needs to get more solid. We're well on pace to being a +100 team though so we should be good. I'd really like our D to improve though as also in my SB analysis, I showed how rare it is for a SB winning team to win the SB who doesn't have a top 5 D. For example last year, we were the #2 D and the Steelers #1 D.

I'm talking points, not yards. Yards are irrelevant.

For the record, the Rams had the number 4 scoring defense in 1999 behind just Jacksonville, Buffalo and Tampa Bay.

To answer buckeye, I'm not panicking, and I don't think anybody else is either. I'm just pointing out that the defense is not playing nearly as well as it did last year. I think it needs to improve. But I'm still enjoying the heck out of this 4-0 start.

Not sure if it was seen on tv...

But Driver got announced last so he could be recognized for being the Packers leader in yards

After this game, Rodgers is on pace to throw 20 more touchdown passes and almost 1,400 more yards than last year, while rushing for 4 more touchdowns. He is on pace to throw 3 fewer interceptions with a 6 percent higher completion percentage than last year. It would seem that we are watching a season for the ages.

We only allow a 89.0 QB Rating (which with the QB stat explosion around the league is a solid number). The reason we're ranked is 31st is because teams have been forced to throw at us for most of each game, and the ranking is taken from yards allowed. That's also why the run defense is number one.

Which brings me to my final wondering... why can't you quote "Rush Defense = 1st" and be happy, but instead make a post like this?

Edit: Not saying I'm particularly happy about our Pass D because I think it's the single weakest aspect of the team right now, but it's nowhere near terrible.

Whenever people say "dont worry" about the defense, I can't help thinking back to the days of Lynn Dickey.

The offense could score at will. And for the team to win, they had to.

And they didn't sniff a Super Bowl.

I'm not saying our defense is as bad as those defenses were. Their performance last year tells me they can be cut a bit of slack, especially early in the season after a lockout.

But I am worried.

I do believe there are some things that are going to have to improve, and improve substantially, before the season is out. Or what may be the greatest offensive team in history is going to be watching the Super Bowl on TV this year:

1. Too many big plays are being given up.
2. Too many easy 8-20 yard passes over the middle are being completed. And I'm not going to blame Peprah for all of this. Our LBs also need to do better, and so do Burnett and our nickel/dime backs. So does Sir Chuck.
3. Too few sacks are being made. Too little pressure on the QB. Wynn has had moments, but Jenkins' contributions haven't come close to being replaced yet.
4. Too many can't-get-off-the-field long drives are being put together by opposing teams.

Season is still young, but things need fixing or the wins won't keep coming. No matter how many records Aaron the First and the royal Princes Donald, Greg, James, Randall, Jordy, and Jermichael put together.

IMO.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
