ILLY!!!
The "Ma and Pa Kettle" movies! CLASSICS!!! Just plain fun, and funny!

Another GREAT film is, "BLAZING SADDLES!"
Also, "Space Balls".
And one that i doubt ANY of you have seen,
"Hey Vern! It's my family album!" Probably "Ernest P. Worrel's" very first film. He plays all the parts of his "family" in it, and some of them are fall down funny. Jim Varney (Ernest) plays the parts in the one skit, where he's a soldier in a fort trying to fight off a whole mess of "injuns", and when he gets to the fort, he finds it deserted. So he has to play like the fort is FILLED with soldiers, which he plays ALL of parts. His voices and facial looks are great!
I had watched it back in the 1980's, when i rented it from Blockbuster. Hadn't seen it in years, then found it on DVD in the "Essential Ernest" collection at Shopko. Has 6 of his films on it. Was only $5.

Formo mentioned 300 and How to Train Your Dragon. Enjoyed both of those immensely. I thought 300 was better than Sin City by a lot. As for Dragon, that was a pleasant surprise. I was planning on not seeing it but a friend of mine convinced me it was a really good movie. I was pleasantly surprised.

By the way, this is a very good thread. :thumbright:

Thank you.

One thing that my brother and I have talked about is all the movies that came out that were supposed to be amazing, or that just got a TON of advertising, that end up simply disappearing. 300 is one of these. Or Pearl Harbor. Siny City. The Box. I just think that it is interesting how movies just keep piling up. It's not like one movie comes out, and another one is replaced. The movies that are out just keep piling and piling, new ones come out, and old ones are forgotten. This one is huge now, wait for 2 weeks, and it will be replaced by another movie to take up all the commercial time. I just laugh that so much time and money are put into a movie, just to see how it fairs for 4-6 weeks in the box office, and hopefuloly, for them, on DVD/Blur-Ray.

Peter, that has happened to me many times. They make a movie look like it's gonna be great, and when you see it, the best parts ended up being the minute that was in the commercial.
"Larry the Cable guy, health inspector" was a very funny movie. I went and saw it alone, then took the wife when she got off of work. She RARELY likes the "dumb" humor i like, but she laughed out loud in the theater all through the film.

I got around to watching The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 in the last week. Not quite sure what to say about them. The Evil Dead certainly had a B Movie feel to it, moreso than Evil Dead 2. I expected that it would have more of a comical undertone than it did, but it was pretty much straight horror. Evil Dead 2, which I liked a lot more, had much more comedy to it. I didn't like how Ash brought this girl back to the house, saw the book (which apparently was NOT destroyed in the fireplace at the end of the first movie) and the recorder, and there was no recognition of either. He decided to play the tape again, and again, darkness and evil ensues. Also, everything was new again in the house, and not destroyed like it was at the end of the first movie. Also, in the first movie, Ash really doesn't do a lot to be so "badass" like everybody seems to think he is. He is actually kind of a puss in the first one. In Evil Dead 2 he is a lot tougher, and I am looking forward to Army of Darkness to see his persona. I think that if I watched the two of them a few more times, I will begin to understand why people like them so much, but for now, I give the first movie 5/10 and the second 7/10.

Peteralan - I may be a minority among horror people, but I thought Army of Darkness was by far the best. While not scary at all, it's a great B movie. Let me know what you think.

After watching the first two movies as well as the preview for Army of Darkness, it looks like that is certainly the direction that the series heads -- starts out as a straight low-budget horror film, and works it's way toward the horror/comedy B movie genre. I won't be able to watch Army of Darkness until late next week (finals week coming up), but I will add to my synopsis. Did you feel my initial review of the first two movies was relatively accurate? Or at least accurate relative to what your review would have been after watching it for the first time?

Mucky Tundra (45m) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (1h) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (5h) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (6h) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (21h) : Bust it is then
    Zero2Cool (22h) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (23h) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (23h) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.

buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes

Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
    Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
    Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold

dfosterf (28-Apr) : Bowden long snapper Wisconsin. Consensus best LS in college.
dfosterf (28-Apr) : We got Peter Bowde
dfosterf (28-Apr) : I personally interpret that as a partial tear that can be recovered from with rehab
dfosterf (28-Apr) : MLF said Kingsley Enagbare did NOT tear his ACL and did NOT require surgery, and that he is "looking good" for the 2024 season!
    beast (28-Apr) : T.O. son signs with the 49ers
