Edit: Scroll down for update. Barnett to miss year.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/rumor-mill/

Packers middle linebacker Nick Barnett injured his wrist during Sunday's win over the Lions. He finished the game with a cast on his wrist.

According to Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Barnett could now be finished for the season.

Barnett needs surgery to repair the wrist. If/when he has it, he won't play again this year.

But the question becomes whether Barnett will be able to play for the balance of the season without having the surgery.

"If it's not a break, I can tape it up and play," Barnett said after Sunday's game, per Bedard.

Barnett, an eighth-year veteran, missed the last seven games of the 2008 season after tearing an ACL. He has started all but two other games of his career.

God we cannot catch a break. This season is going to be something else. First Burnett, then Chillar, and now Barnett. If he's opts for surgery, our defense takes a major blow.

I hope Desmond Bishop will be worth the wait. Maybe Abdul Hodge is still alive somewhere...

Tough blow, but definitely not one the Packer can't overcome. I'm more concerned about Brandon Chiller right now because Barnett seems like he's done. Chiller is up in the air. If Chiller can get back healthy, Green Bay might be okay.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/06/report-nick-barnett-done-for-the-season/

Earlier tonight, Greg Bedard of the Milwaukee Journal Senintel reported that Packers linebacker Nick Barnett would miss the season if/when he has surgery to repair a wrist injury suffered on Sunday against the Lions.

Now, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Barnett is "out for the season." Schefter says that the injury is similar to the one that ended Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher's season in 2009.

The news caps a bad two days for Packers fans. First, they failed to land running back Marshawn Lynch. Then, receiver Randy Moss returned to the Vikings, where he'll team up with Brett Favre. Now, Barnett leaves a gaping hole in the second level of the Green Bay defense.

We're screwed.
