Here is an article discussing Bears prep against our Defense:

http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post/_/id/4666315/bears-prepping-for-packers-not-for-3-4-defense

reading this Blog makes me think about how well Capers has done. He picks plays that utilize our teams talent and that is not something you can necessarily bin in simple defensive scheme. I think one of the upcoming teams will figure out how to exploit some of our weaknesses and I will be focusing on how well and how quickly our D adjusts. Before that happens though we need to crush the Bears.

Capers is too conservative when he have a lead. This is my one and major complaint against his scheme.

The problem with that article is the Jay Cutler we'll be seeing Monday is a different Jay Cutler than 2009. We're seeing the Martz/Cutler, which is a huge upgrade.

I'd be more concerned with how our D does against Martz's schemes than the guy throwing the football. Now, those stats would be closer to the reality we'll be dealing with Monday night.

If this article is correct, we won't be seeing much of A.J. Hawk this week.

This is the most variable defensive scheme I've ever seen. It is really complex, yet it seems that each player's assignment on any given play is not too complex for him to learn and execute. I like it.

The Packers do not have a 3-4 defense... they have a Dom Capers defense... much better than the 3-4 :thumbright:

But the bears offense has become a pass first offense and they will mainly be in nickel.

Also you have to be careful when talking numbers... as you talking about how it looks or when position they are.

Against the Bills the Packers ran a 2-4-5 nickel package but the way it looked was a 4-3 ... because on the line was two DL, Matthews and Jones. On the LB level was Barnett Hawk and Collins. It looked like a 4-3 but the players it had it where a 2-4-5...

So the Packers do run a lot of 4-2 looks out of nickel with the OLBers setting the edges and keeping containment (when their is no stunt called) so the 2 DL can focus on the 3 guys on the inside and hoping one of them will get a one on one and will win that battle, and get pressure up the middle as someone else gets pressure from the outside.

Good points beast; especially the fact that they run alot of 4 man fronts. Having two of those being LB gives us additional flexibility to have additional pass coverage and keep the opposing offense guessing. This might make us vulnerable to a power run type offense but not if CM3 keeps bringing the pain the way he has.
