The good news is, a loss to an AFC opponent won't hurt as far as any tiebreakers go with say the Giants since conference record is what would be used there.

The important thing is to come out next week and beat Seattle. This one was a tough one to swallow no doubt, but we are still in good position to get one of the NFC Wild Cards. If we can't at least do that, then I agree this team does not deserve to make the playoffs.

GB needs to beat Seattle and I think they're in good shape. If they lose that game, quite frankly, GB doesn't deserve to make the playoff then. I would say one more win gets the Packers in.

I have to agree! Although a very disappointing loss today, an occasional "reality check" is good too. It gives them more reason to play aggressive and be hungry for wins. It can also benefit a team to remember what it feels like to lose BEFORE playoff time.

Lets figure that Seattle SHOULD be a win, but we also know that on any given Sunday anything can happen. Cards can be a tough match-up, but they too have bad days (as does the Pack.) Warner has a tough time in the passing game under heavy pressure, otherwise he is deadly; should be a focal point.

I have to say today's game for was probably the most exciting game I have watched all season. I literally watched the last quarter on my feet... I couldn't sit down.

I am so angry that we lost that game though, just because it was so close and there was more than once on that final drive when it seemed like the game was over, then a yellow flag landed on the field.

Plus I can't stop thinking... if Crosby makes that FG we win. I am really nervous about Crosby, I have no faith in him to kick a game winner in the playoffs.

The Vikings lost, as I work in School Age Child Care and it's summer holidays down here I had 16 twelve year olds booing Favre everytime he got the ball and cheering everytime he got sacked... so that made me feel a little bit better, but this loss has hit me hard... even though I wouldn't disagree if someone said they didn't deserve to win... they still could have and that sucks!

Wouldn't we be in mathematically too? Even if the Giants tie our record we still beat them in the tie-breaker (conference record).

Yes we only need 1 win. Even if Giants win out and we're tied to 10-6 with them we grab the spot due the conference record being better.

Greg Bedard tweeted that if we tie the Giants, they get in over us because they have a better record against common opponents. I don't know which trumps which though.

Conference record trumps common opponents, but I'm guessing Bedard is saying that in that case, our conference records would be identical.

Wouldn't it be something if the Vikes lose out and we could have won the Division? ! ! ! Just a thought.

In the "road to the playoffs" thread, Z has put a link to a "playoff scenario checker"

I have yet to find a scenario where The Packers don't make the playoffs with a 10-6 record. I will keep running them, but it looks like 1 more win will get the Packers in.

Edit: After running more scenarios, this is THE ONE The Packers don't want to happen. Dallas and Philly finish 11-5, The Packers and Giants finish 10-6. That happens and Packers are eliminated.
