A source said the Packers are strongly considering promoting OLB Cyril Obiozor from the practice squad to replace Kampman.

Brady Poppinga, Jeremy Thompson, and Brad Jones. We can "hope" to remedy the loss of Kampman. But I'm not totally sure we can remedy the loss of Harris.

I'd like to see us go pick someone up in free agency to play some nickel.

It'd be nice to get Chillar back to 100% or close to that.

If we start relying on the dime defense, what will that do to our pass rush, which hasn't been exactly stellar this year? I hope we're not in for a precipitous drop in our sack output.

Can you have a precipitous drop off a small hill?

For some reason it makes me think of the scene in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" where Little John gets knocked into a "stream" and fears drowning.

I don't know if the losses of these two players will be as bad as it would've been say in 2007. I think Tramon Williams is ready to be a No. 2 corner, so I'm not that concerned right there, but the nickel back will be a huge liability for this team. Jarrett Bush is a special teams player and that's it and Brandon Underwood has talent, but he's too raw to play that role in my view. GB may want to look outside the organization and sign a veteran to come in and play the nickel for the rest of the year. Denver has attempted to do that with Ty Law if you need an example. I'm not sure who's out there though.

As far as Kampman goes. He's been inconsistent this year because he's not playing his natural position. You can't criticize his play or the coaches all year for putting him in a position where he's average to above average and then say his loss is devastating.

Don't get me wrong, it's a big blow, but I think the Packers have the pass rushers to make up for his loss. If the defensive line plays well the rest of the year, it's going to create a lot more opportunities for other linebackers to get after the QB. The key to this defense continues to be the defensive line.

This injury diminishes his value though as a free agent. He won't get a big pay day and I fear GB will let him walk and the Minnesota Vikings will give him a decent contract. I'd take a chance on him. He's still go a few productive years left in him. If I'm the Packers, I strongly consider extending him in the off-season to a one or two year deal. I'm not sure he'd take that. GB may have to put the transition tag on him and use the franchise tag on Ryan Pickett now. The Packers are in a tough spot.

Porky - That's our bitch. Our #1s-3 at CB are good. The drop off is at #4 and that drop off is HUGE.

Ds will exploit this. We better beef up our pass rush to compensate.

I just seen a clip of Kampman being carted off. He had tears in his eyes.

I would be more concerned about the bleeding from the ear. Sometimes people take concussions or any type of head injury lightly. Kampman should have taken more time off IMO (same goes for Brian Westbrook).

Agreed.

Frankly, this one scares me a lot more than any knee injury does.
