The guy was 21 - 12 as a starter for the Bears.

That has to rank pretty damn high in Bears land.

Why did the Bears trade this guy away?

Cause they're the Bears.

The irony is they traded him for a quarterback who was 17-20 in Denver with a MUCH better receiving corps.

It doesn't matter WHO'S QBing the Bearce.. They'd still suck. They need an o-line and some WRs before getting a QB.

Why Aaron Rodgers? He is 11-15 as a starter. We could get Tarvaris Jackson for next to nothing. He's 10-9.

Did anyone here doubt that Cutler was the better QB before they made the trade?

I actually still think that he's the better QB. They need to get him an O-line and some receivers. Orton can't stretch the field to save his life. Had Cutler been on that Denver team, which actually has a defense after years of negligence, they'd be even better.

Why Aaron Rodgers? That's pretty stupid. He cost the Packers, only ONE draft pick.

I think Cutler has a better upside than Orton, but Orton wins games, isn't that what its all about?

I feared the Cutler trade ONLY because I thought they were going to go after a big name WR right away too.

Cutler has more talent than Orton, but yet, Orton still does what's needed to win games (or rather doesn't lose games), something Cutler is not doing.

Edit, you actually DID mention Tavaris?. I thought I misread something. How stupid of a comment is THAT? Let's trade or bench Rodgers and send a bunch of picks to a rival for a backup QB? Really? That's your argument? Really?

It was not a good trade by the Bears UNLESS they brought in a talented WR. They still might, but without guys who will go and get the ball, Cutler is not better than Orton.

You do realize Rockmolder was making an ironic argument, right? He was poking a finger in the eye of the "he just wins games" idea, which doesn't take into consideration so many other factors.

What Nonstop said. Winning games is what it's all about, but it doesn't help when rating QB, usually.

No one wins games in this league except for Manning and Brady, if you ask me. And Brady is still a long shot at this point. They can carry a team without an amazing supporting cast and make it a Super Bowl contender.

Orton is nowhere near that. He played with a defense that was pretty darn good and behind a better O-line than the Bears have now. I mean, just look at it, they could actually open up some holes last year. This year, not so much.

Cutler had been stuck on teams with horrible defenses. His stats might've been a bit inflated, having Shanahan as his HC and some talent around him, but overall, I'd take Cutler over Orton.

Whether the amount of picks they gave up will be justified is to be seen, but they've certainly upgraded the position. It's just a shame that the window had closed already when they got him. Someting DeAngelo didn't see coming, I think.

I honestly never thought I'd see the day where I was worried about Kyle Orton not starting.

I have Brandon Marshall for ff. He put up a real good number last week for me. I think it was 25 ff points.

Thing is, he did it all in the first half, with Orton in there at QB. Simms comes in, Marshall got zip for the rest of the game.

Wade asked me why I play this silly ff stuff. I never had before, now I'm a blossoming addict. My God, anything that can get me to sweat out a Kyle Orton start is worth looking into, fan-interest-wise.

As much as I don't like Cutler, I think it MIGHT be a little unfair to be be super critical of him. I see some of the same problems that plague the Pack doing the same things to the Bears. Of course those interceptions stand out like a sore thumb, but I think I would put it like this-- Cutler sucks without good protection and a good run game.

imo, as always

Look, I love Jay, and I understand he's a great player who can take us a long way, and I still have faith in him," Urlacher tells Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports. "But I hate the way our identity has changed. We used to establish the run and wear teams down and try not to make mistakes, and we'd rely on our defense to keep us in the game and make big plays to put us in position to win. Kyle Orton might not be the flashiest quarterback, but the guy is a winner, and that formula worked for us. I hate to say it, but that's the truth."

Sounds like Urlacher is one of the few who agrees with me about Orton.

beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
