Great win. We controlled the clock. That 15 play drive for a TD is arguably the touchstone moment from this season. Granted, it wasn't always pretty on that drive but we got it done. Inch by bloody inch we made it downfield. Huge 3rd down conversions all game long.

Still way too many unnecessary penalties. We have to get that fixed. Too many 2nd and 17s and 2 and 14s -- that neuters your offense. Hard to generate offense when you are playing from behind.

Great game on defense. Dunno if it was Capers doing something different or guys just steppin' it up. My biggest worry in this game -- aside from the obvious fear of Rodgers getting mugged -- was that we wouldn't be able to generate any pass rush on Romo. Hats off to the entire defense. It's a combination of scheming, good coverage, and a lot of intensity up front.

No discussion warranted? It was an anomalous situation, so it warrants discussion. I assumed when it happened that it was used for a similar purpose to icing the kicker: it shut down in its tracks a play that looked like it could easily go for a first down. I didn't have a problem with it, and I still don't. I do think Mr. Triplett is going to have a talking-to from league headquarters, however, after going under the hood after that challenge. Everyone in the stadium and watching on TV knew it was the third time he'd tossed the hankie. But am I going to complain? No, it gave our defense a chance to regroup and they put in a good stand at that point.

I was impressed with the improvement in our special teams' play this week. We didn't give the 'Boys the short field like we did with the Vikings and Buccaneers. I firmly believe that -- along with the relentless pressure brought to bear by Capers -- was the primary factor in this victory. I LOVE it when I'm not throwing stuff at the screen after another boneheaded special teams penalty or blown coverage.

God I wish we had an offensive line.

No, I am not being a "Debbie Downer"...

Just contemplating what could have been.

This, more than any other aspect, is the source of my discontent.

I hate those GD Cowboys.

I'm in a good mood.

Sorry for bringing up the o line.

They were adequate against a very good team today dude. I think they've got things stabilized, at least for now.
Not only that, but we've been jinxed against the Cowboys for a LONG time now. Nice to finally kicked their annoying asses. I guess now the jinx is against the Queens.

I don't mind. It's a very fair point. Look at the pocket presence and the great throws on 3rd down when we actually gave Rodgers some time.

This team is an OT, OG and OLB away from being true contenders.... Mainly OT.

The Packer Defensive gameball should be split between Woodson and the 4 primary Dlineman.. they owned that LOS.. and it was a thing of freaking beauty.

The 6-2 (Going into the game) Dallas Cowboys were totally out coached today. It was brutal how bad they were out coached.

"all_about_da_packers" wrote:

Our team outplayed the Cowgirls but i can't go with the out coaching them after Mike McCarthy tried challenging 3 times lol. That kind of ruins that theory in my mind lol.

That's one silly mental lapse, but give credit where credit is due.

I think it says a lot that the PLAYERS presented Mike McCarthy with the game ball. All those (including me) wondering the character of our coach, we got a pretty good answer.

It shocked me how many of our passes were behind the line of scrimmage and stuffed for loss, and McCarthy still persisted in calling runs on several 2nd-and-long and 3rd-and-long plays. So I certainly don't let him off the hook for his playcalling this game. I think he needs to shred his script and call the plays based on what's happening in the game.

Don't forget that our offense had only scored 3 points by halftime. That's scary.

Yes, we got the victory, but there are still a lot of sobering realities about this team that need to be faced.

How many times on 3rd and 20 (and we are in that position often) does Mike McCarthy run a draw play or something irritatingly STUPID like that?
The idea is that the defense will be caught by surprised, thinking you're going to pass in that situation.
But not when you do that EVERY SINGLE FRIGGIN TIME. They've fot that mf'ing shit on film, MM! How about a hook and lateral!?

NSD, I really like to read your posts/opinions... but for tonight let's party like we're 8-1.

Its been a long time since the Packers beat a quality opponent they were supposed to lose to.

The big thing here was that, not only did we win, but we showed like we legitimately belong on the same field with those guys.

It shouldn't surprise anyone anymore. Every time we were in the third and really deep situations, I said out loud, "Here comes the run." What surprised me more is that he was calling runs on 2nd and 26. Wouldn't you at least want to make the third down somewhat manageable?

On a bright note, however, I must confess I'm very proud of our offensive line. The rate of sacks has slowed, and we are now on pace to only give up 73 sacks on the season. Without a doubt, our O-line is earning their keep.
