Capers came with the same game plan as last time? Really?

Early on Capers showed he was going to bring the blitz to try and get to the QB. Yeah, well if the blitz is getting anywhere near home, you've got gaps that Favre can exploit all day with the likes of Harvin, All Day, Rice, and Berrian.

Quite simply, our players on D did NOT win the individual match-ups. When you bring pressure, but it is picked up and neutralized by the opposing team then you change things up. Like last time, when the pressure was not getting home, Capers scaled back and decided to increase the players in coverage so that Favre would at least face more of a difficulty throwing than he would with 5 Packers coming on the blitz but not getting anywhere near him.

Our down front has been 2 Dlineman for probably 60%+ of the snaps. Be that 5 DBs or 5 Lbers. IMO that is why we are not getting pressure on the QB. How much have we heard Dline is to take up blocks so the LBers can make plays. Well we only have 2 Dlineman in the game, so that is 1 or 2 blockers they cannot tie up.

I'm pretty much in agreement with you Porky, but here's my thoughts for the game.

- Minnesota is a damn good football team. You can't deny it. Favre is playing not just good football but motivated football--you can tell he really wants to win every game.
- The Packers are exactly what they've been every year under McCarthy and Ted Thompson. They are a young football team with loads of potential but they can never put together the things that make a potentially good football team great. We are an average team now.
- We couldn't have been happier to have Rodgers as a replacement for Favre. Sure, there's a lot of debate about who is better or if the Packers made the right decision but in the end we are lucky to have a guy like Rodgers at the QB position.
- Ryan Grant is not an NFL caliber running back. I'm sick of watching him play, he makes me want to vomit. Say all you want about him not getting carries but I saw him fall in the backfield twice without anyone touching him today. This guy needs to get the hell out of Green Bay because he only holds our run game back. We need a playmaker out of the backfield, we can't get by with a guy whose only strength is running straight anymore.
- The Packers coaching staff needs to learn how to adjust quicker to what's going on on the field. We can't let good teams keep taking the lead on us it only leads to disaster. They also need to make better decisions with playcalling. I'm sick of 2nd-and-18 run plays. Also, why didn't we run any screens against the Vikings? I was looking for them all game. I also think we should have gone for it on fourth instead of kicking a field goal (which Crosby missed). I also questioned the two-point conversion.
- The defense is much improved from last year but lacks consistency. We also need to get pressure on the QB. It doesn't matter how many people we have covering the opposing quarterback has all day to throw the ball.
- Missed opportunities and penalties are killing this team. We got handed the ball in Minnesota territory with a chance to take the lead early. We got out of there with a field goal. Johnny Jolly's penalty was terrible, no matter what the Vikings player may have said to him you can't do that, plain and simple. The players need to be held accountable for penalties whether it's laps or fines, you can't be making stupid mistakes if you want to be a good football team.
- Percy Harvin was a huge difference in the game. Our defense was getting good stops whenever the Vikings had to actually move the ball down the field, but a lot of the time they got the ball at their own 40 or better. You can't win if the team has a short field to work with every drive.
- I think the Vikings have our number. I think that they're not only a better team but they know our weaknesses better than any other opponent. Favre being their quarterback also gives them a lot of extra help in the intel and strategy departments.
- Overall I think we lack aggressiveness. If this team came out pumped at the start of the game ready to smash throats and exert their authority we'd be better off. It seems that we always start the game conservatively from both a play-calling and defensive angle. It's almost as if instead of playing to win we play not to lose. Why can't we just start passing of the bat and use that to set up the draw and running game? It's obvious that passing the football is our strength, so we should utilize that more and earlier.

In the end it was a heartbreaker of a loss that I hope the Packers don't forget about. They should use it as motivation in weeks to come and try to play with an attitude.

I just don't understand the talent argument though. I think we have more then enough talent to have a top 10 + defense. Of course we have a few weak spots, but what D doesn't? Just look at Denver and the Saints. You can't tell me we don't at least have as much talent on D as those teams, if not more. Then how come they are having so much success and we are not? How about the Titans D this year? Surely Haynesworth wasn't responsible for their entire D collapsing this year?

It has to be coaching.

McCarthy and Capers each need to be taken out behind the wood shed. They both came in with the same game plan that didn't work in MN, why did they think it would work today.

Offensively we were not sticking to the run and running patters 15 yards down field, and not giving either of our young tackles any help. Defensively, we were going to stop Peterson forgetting about the pass rush.

We came out early in the second half and changed. We were running shorter routes, and we moved the ball. We started to work at getting to Brett and we forced two almost INTs back to back.

Had McCarthy and Capers come out in the first half with the second half gameplan. We would have moved the ball better, and performed better on defense, and also would have improved the field position battle.

The funny thing is so did Minnesota. How did they play this game any differently? Peterson got 25 carries and they made sure to stick with the run regardless. They did the same thing the first time around. Favre started out very safe and then eventually let loose and picked the secondary apart.

Defensively, Green Bay stunk. There is no way around it.

Offensively, Green Bay made some adjustments. They didn't make any ingame adjustments in the first half though which they should have done. The playcalling in the first half was very hesitant. It seemed like they were more worried about getting sacked than taking advantage of I'm sorry, but a very vulnerable secondary without their best player.

There some poor coaching all around and DD80 is right, talent plays a factor. Chilly can do a lot more when he's got the best guard in football and best RB maybe player in football.

Minnesota is a very very good football team and their record indicates it. They've beaten GB twice, SF who is average and a Baltimore team that throttled Denver.

Why some can't come to terms with that is just mind blowing.

Woodson is the best player on this defense. After that Harris is overrated these days. Hawk, Barnett, Chillar and Poppinga are average. Kampman is out of position, though he did get to rush more with his hand down against the Vikes. Collins is overrated by Packer fans, Bigby flat out stinks. The D-Line is again average and there is NO DEPTH whatsoever.

Like Jennings, you overhype guys at times. Some good players but nothing that the 85 Bears are going to be threatened by.
