I had no idea that we were this bad, with a net average of 33.9.

Kapinos has amongst the worst individual net as well.

Have I been living under a rock, or has anybody else considered our coverage a major problem? We're 12th in gross punting, so I'm more inclined to believe it's more of a coverage problem. I'm still kind of in shock... Not a stat I expected to see.

Well everyone knows our special teams stink...But dead last is a little surprising.

Gotta love the fact our coaching staff makes final cut decisions primarily based on special teams versatility. 😉

The problem is not the punter in this case.

Kapinos is 13th in Average at 45.6 yards. 32nd in Net at 33.9 yards. That is because GB is the second worst in ret yards. 20 punts 12 returned with an average of 16 yards.

Punting stats are really hard to look at, you actually have to look at each punt. If a punter is consistently asked to punt from the opponents 45 and puts them at the 10 every time, They end up with a Net of 35 yards. Punters with high Net are usually from teams that can't move the ball so they are always in position to boot it hard instead of pooch punting.

Punting stats are indeed very hard to interpret. It can also be the punter's fault if he's not getting enough air under the ball and letting his return team get downfield.

Part of why I'm so shocked is that we're dead last in net punting, dead last in pass defense (30th in overall D), dead last in sacks allowed. So we can't defend against the pass, we can't protect our quarterback, and we can't give our defense room to breathe with good punting. The only things keeping this season from complete disaster are Rodgers, Driver, and opportune turnovers. Honorable mention to the D line.

Damn, more doom and gloom, screw the stats, name me one time this year a Kapinos punt has hurt The Packers.

I know there was a couple of big returns, but was that his fault or bad coverage?

There may be one or two, but I don't recall, The Packers really haven't punted much this year.

I am talking about a shanked punts.

I think Kapinos has been doing a good job punting. Sure he's no Shane Lechler but the guy does the job better than anyone we had last year.

I stand corrected. CBS has neglected to update the team page even though they updated all their other stats...

In case they update it before you read it:

Makes a whole lot of sense now, had a hard time figuring out how we still averaged 400+ YPG, even after yesterday's impressive showing. I think there's something else on top of that that's screwed up with their ranking system, too... That's the last time I use CBS sports for anything other than gamecenter. The offensive stats are way the hell off as well. Wow.
