Much ado about nothing, IMO. Press conference decorum couldn't be more meaningless. You are right, Clifton is a pro. He's been at this for a while. Doesn't need a public scolding to make him see the light. He also doesn't need people making excuses for him, but I'm not convinced that's what McCarthy was doing.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

back on topic, I agree Pack93z. There is noexcuse at all. He Clifton has been around way too long not to know how to line up. If he couldn't make the move to the outside they should have chipped with a back on his way out to the left flat or sat his rear down.

In a way, I agree, but then why the hell have them in the first place?

Just put out a memo to the media.. and piss on wasting time and energy on these.

They have them to inform the fans, the customers of this franchise, the ones that ultimately pay their salaries.

We are entrusting our fan hood and disposable income on this franchise... so they tell us a sort of state of the franchise reports. Yet they fill them with this garbage and skirt the issues.

The sad part is some except that is how it should be..

These are grown men paid well to do a job.. when they are falling short, I expect some accountability.

Maybe that is asking to much.

I think there are some similarities between effectively fighting a war and running a football team, inasmuch as the less the public knows about some of the inner workings, maybe the better off the situation will be. That doesn't preclude people from having an idea of what's going on -- but rather that every problem doesn't need to be meticulously diagnosed in the media. I don't think accountability is too much to ask for -- I do think you're looking for it in the wrong place, though.

Short of reading McCarthy's mind, I can just about guarantee you that press conferences are a thorn in his side. They're a "part of the biz" now, but that doesn't mean coaches are eager to participate in them (and subsequently disclose more than they'd like to about their teams -- I say "more" because I imagine many coaches would prefer not saying much of ANYTHING to the public).

Well I have tried looking on the field for that accountability.. and have yet to see it.

So the next logical place to look.. the coaches mouth.
