I think the reason we were able to handle the Vikings, who have a better d-line than the Cowboys, has as much to do with scheme as personnel. We just don't do very well against teams play a 3-4.

Speed my friend.. speed.. while I think the Vikes line might be overall more complete than the Boys.. but the Vikes lack the speed that the Boys, Giants and Bears have.. IMO, we can't handle the speed and quickness they have.. Tauscher and Cliffy are very good tackles.. but they had their hands full all night and inside.. Ratliff was knifing in and collapsing the pocket.

We can't handle speed fronts that are fairly physical as well.

Didn't Moll get both of the Ineligible Receiver penalties in week 1? That's really annoying to me...

Completely agree.. we need to focus on improving the talent level on the Oline.. and depth... we are woeful at Tackle for depth.

I don't see WHAT we can do this season to fix it. We are pretty much stuck with it.

What can we do?

A) If we are pretty comfortable with the remainder of the team and think we have a shot at making a run (to this point I say yes) then work the phones of the league. There are a couple of teams that would probably start selling parts off.

B) Look for a veteran FA that can come in and possibly help..

C) Nothing.. ride out the Wells injury and hope like hell that Cliffy and Tausch hold up..

D) If it would have been me.. I would have overpaid for Willie Anderson when he was loose.. kick Mark inside and we all of a sudden seem a lot more sound up front.

This is just my pet frustration of the Ted era.. we just for whatever reason are hell bent on making Colledge and Moll guards. Spitz seems like a player, albeit not worldly consistent either. What I wouldn't give for a solid game tested consistent Guard on this roster.

Bozz - +1.

Our OL sucks against 3-4.

Our OL is not anywhere near top tier OL to begin with, but it's really, really bad against 3-4.

I wouldn't put our OL in the top half of the NFL. It's not. You're deluding yourself if you think that (green and gold lensed glasses).

BF last year and Aaron Rodgers this year have done wonders covering up problems with our OL. Aaron Rodgers was running for his life all day yesterday. Good thing Aaron Rodgers is one of the top scramblers in the NFL or else we'll all be complaining that our OL sucks.

This has been a concern for me since Sherman left. I didn't care for Sherman as a GM, but with his background as an O-line coach at A&M, I found it interesting that O-line was one of the few things he got right. For this year, short of a trade, I'm not sure there's much we can do but hope. It's not like there's a ton of available free agent linemen sitting around waiting for a call.

Right on, Whisky Sam...

A free agent lineman or two should have been addressed earlier in the year.

But that's not Ted's style, it seems.

beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.

Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.

buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
