Ok, there's been alot of talk about Bigby this summer. He hasn't "flashed," he hasn't made plays. People are saying that he's not the same after his ankle injury. Maybe he hasn't come back from it.
Bigby said before camp that his ankle was much worse than it was reported to be. So, is that the reason he hasn't made his usual big hits or interceptions?
I think it might be that they weren't showing all of the defense. According to Capers, they were only running about a third of all their stuff in the preseason games. So, are we gonna see Bigby light it up when the season starts for real?
I think he'll be fine. Dunno if he'll be up to Palomalu's level, but I think he'll be very good. He'll blitz effectively too. Not to jinx him like I did Brohm, though.

I don't think it's the play calling... and that seems silly to me... everyone should be able to show up every now and then unless they're battling at the line.

Bigby won't be on Palomalu level....

If there was a reason for it i would say ether he's not 100% healthy or he's not comfortable in the new system yet.

But he is physical limited by his speed (or lack there of).

i don't think he's one of our better players. I think what we're seeing now is the "as usual", and the big plays of a season and a half ago were the anomaly. I don't mean to paint a grim picture, but I just think he was playing out his ass back then, and he's come down to earth. I also don't think Collins is really that good either... too many communication breakdowns, too many blown coverages, too many disappearing acts. I do like his gawdy interception numbers, but there's a whole lot more to the game than that.

I have to agree with you on this Bozz, Bigby never really did much but make big hits and i remember correctly he also had alot of personal fouls called on him in his so called good year. Both Safetys seem to blow alot of coverages and be in the wrong spot.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I just figured Capers would REALLY know how to utilize Bigby to maximize his skills.

Everyone is taking the "what have you done for me lately" attitude towards Bigby. I don't necessarily think that's a bad way of looking at him -- so long as we don't forget that he's made some big hits and opportunistic plays in the past.

I see no reason why he can't get back to that form. Remember, Favre used to have some piss poor preseasons (alliteration!). Then he came out and slung 30+ TDs and went to Pro Bowls. Just sayin', I think too much stock is put into the preseason.

Get back to me about week 4 or 5 and I'll give you something more definitive on Bigby. But I'm hopeful he'll be the guy at SS.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

Yeah I agree. He had a lot of big hits in 2007, but he also had a lot of bad angles and blown coverages if I remember correctly.

I had high expectations of him leading into this season, but now I think he's an average player who had a good year.

You'd rather judge him on an injury-ridden year when he didn't play that well, than a healthy year when he played great? Flashes in pre-season don't necessarily mean nothing, maybe he's just covered his guy perfect so QBs don't throw his way. Maybe not. Still, saying he sucks is a bit harsh, considering he was a good (not great) safety last year with major injury problems.
