Bad run on 3rd and 1 at the goal line from Sutton. QJ drives his man back into the end zone and instead of following him in Sutton breaks left and gets tackled backwards.

Can't be missing touchdowns like that.

You are right. If he would have followed his blocker, he would have been in.
It wouldn't have been a touchdown, it was an attempt at a 2 point conversion.
You can bet the coaches will show him the film, and he won't make that mistake again.

I think across the board the new conditioning programs and Dave Redding have helped every phase of the teams physicality and energy levels. I'm also seeing push from the O-line, might not always be a whole right now but at least the line is 1-2 yards down field. I'm seeing lots of little things adding up to some much needed improvement.

From what I have seen, they are not stretching the field out as much on the runs. In the past couple years, with the ZBS the plays really seemed to be stretched sideways, now it seam like the run is going closer to the hash marks. With the way things were being stretched, it required RB to run different.

+1 Excellent point. That's why I do like the quick pitches in this running attack, gets the runner to the edge without having a a blocking scheme that takes too long to stretch out there. Get him over the tackle and let him read it. That's also why I have been watching Finley's run blocking, and listening to him keep that part of the game important. I like seeing our RB out behind the TE, T, G and let them be men and make something happen. That's my kind of football.

Article from JSO on our crowded backfield.

Silverstein says Sutton would probably clear waivers and make the practice squad, something with which I do not concur.

He seems pretty high on Wynn.

I really hope we keep four RBs this year or at least get some compensation for one of them.

I dont agree with the JS about suttons last play; he didnt follow QJ in and went smack dab into 3 defenders - it was clean and open where where quinn blocked.

I do agree with other things the JS had to say about our RBs thou... well most.

Sutton has shown some great running ability as a RB - as a return guy - not so sure... have to see a couple more runs vs the titans.

I think lumpkin is the odd man out. Even thou he had a pretty decent game vs the cards. Wynn is better IMO - and I think the coaches like what they see in sutton to give the RB team something different ...

Perhaps the TN game will decide thou; giving sutton lumpkin and wynn some more play time.

oh I was going to say - I dont think we can stash sutton or wynn on the practice squad again.
...

then you throw in the FB competition - geez ... I really like our FBs and would hate to see any go. Id rather keep all our FBs.

I haven't noticed much different from the RB's, except Grant looks a step quicker than last year, more like he did in '07. I think the big difference with the running game this year is the O-line is blocking better. Maybe that is giving the RB's more confidence so they are being more aggressive.
