Warhawk, if there is enough talent on this team, and they are properly coached, they will win. So far Thompson's teams have lost more than they have won.

That depends on how you define "Thompson's teams" now doesn't it? It's pretty hard to make the case that the team that was thrust on him that first year was HIS team.

God I am tired of the Sherman excuses. I'll tell you what; if we have another losing season this year, lets fire Mike Sherman again.

Four years, one winning season. IF, we have another losing season, that will be one winning season in five years. That's just not good enough. It seems there are a lot of fans that are more concerned with Thompson keeping his job, than they are winning football games.

It reminds me of when Favre would throw 4 picks in a game and fans would say, "Yeah, but his receivers ran the wrong way!" LOL

The question I have for those that want Thompson gone is what do you want the next guy to do?

Win. How difficult is that to understand?

It's easy to say he's won only once in four years but that's where I look at it differently than you and others here. Thompson had little to do with '05. That team started twenty of the same twenty two that were on Shermans team the year before. He had no time or money to make an impact on that squad.

When Thompson does leave I certainly won't look at the next GM and be hooking him for the following years results either. Good or bad. Not unless he's left with a boatload of cash and does have the ability to make several personnel changes that obviously make a difference. That certainly was not the case when Thompson got here.

After that first year of PTSSS (Post Traumatic Sherman Stress Syndrome) changes in personnel did come with the likes of Woodson, Pickett, and guys like Hawk, Jennings, Bigby, Colledge and Spitz, got beyond rookie-year type contributions and the team started to roll.

The next two years we won twenty one of 32 regular season games. That's the stretch people dogging Thompson seem to forget. We only had like the most wins of ANYBODY for the last half of '06 and all of '07. When you look over a stretch of 24 ballgames that's no fluke. Sure, any team can get hot or lucky or whatever for four or five games but over twenty four games? No. You ARE good when you have success over that long of a period.

So when someone asks me about winning and how hard is to understand I have to ask how short is your memory?

Like I said before I have no problem with the 45 we will line up against the Bears with opening night. The talent is there. For me, it's up to the coaches to coach and the players to play and get it done. That combination did not click last year for whatever reason especially so on the defensive side of the ball but I am not close to running up to the GM's door and start telling him it's his fault.

I still think Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat and we could have our next HC on the staff already. Capers was a HC before and could become one again. I really don't think Mike McCarthy brings out the best in his players.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see something like this play out.

Personally, i think McCarthy has a free run this year, with the transition to a new defense, i think the pressure will be on him intensely if he does not deliver a very good season in 2010. I don't really see Thompson being tied directly to McCarthy. I personally feel like Thompson has done a pretty good job, and its not a case of lacking the talent to win(which would be the only reason to fire the GM).

I totally concur, that 4-12 season goes to Sherman, after all, he coached his own mess.

Yeah the team Sherman took over and the team Ted Thompson took were total equals in some people's minds. I've posted this many times: Sherman had Brett and Ahman in the absolute prime of their careers, where's the hardware boys?
