Put your butts out..

Wisconsin's new public smoking ban would prohibit people from lighting up anywhere in Lambeau Field, according to Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District Director Pat Webb.

Our first blush is that we would be covered by the law, Webb told the district board today.

Smoking is permitted in designated areas of the stadium concourse, but Webb said Packers officials admit it isnt strictly enforced. Smoking is not permitted in the stadium bowl.

The state law, which Gov. Jim Doyle signed May 18, includes any stadium, pavilion, gymnasium, swimming pool, skating rink, bowling center, or other building where spectator sporting events are held, according to final version of the bill.

The law goes into effect on July 5, 2010.

College football at Lambeau?

Also during Wednesday's meeting, former Ashwaubenon High School football coach Ken Golomski, a stadium board member, said he has talked with officials at Michigan Tech University and Winona State University about playing a game at Lambeau Field.

"They're both very enthusiastic," Golomski said. "I think it's doable and there would be a curiosity factor for people who have never been able to go to a game here."

Golomski said the talks are still preliminary, but a game would have to be played prior to the Packers' regular-season opener.

Webb said a meeting would be arranged with the college officials.

I enjoy being around places with no smoking. Its enforced everywhere in Chicago. I went up to Michigan for a wedding this past weekend and walked into a hotel and gagged because of the musty ass cig smell in there...
One perk to living in Chicago I guess.

Every time I've gone back to Wisconsin from Massachusetts, I do a double take the first time I see people puffing away in a bar.

It works out pretty well. You will appreciate the law down the road when you go somewhere that doesn't have it yet.

Bars and smoking go hand in hand. Throw in gambling and you have the trifecta.

Places that serve food and drinks should not have smoking, because the non smokers should have rights.

But the real person of choice should be the business owner. If he wants to cater to the smoker, than that should be his business. Economically, I believe he would be foolish.

Good riddance! Ever notice some of the most annoying people are those who smoke? For instance, my daughters mother. 🙂

I've heard the argument about bars, but i dont really think it has much bearing on reality. Sure, alcohol can cause health problems just as cigarettes, but so can many other things when taken in excess, like oh, water for instance. The main point here is that ingesting these other substances rarely if ever will have adverse health effects on unwilling participants around you.

I'm saying this as someone who quit smoking about 5 years ago, I think its incredibly rude to smoke ANYWHERE inside around non-smokers, and i felt the same when i was a smoker. I'm not one of those people who think that nobody should have the right to smoke, but i am very much in favor of banning smoking in any public place. Just because i'm having a beer or two at a bar doesn't mean i should unwillingly be exposed to toxic chemicals.

I agree with the no smoking in restaurants and and all that.. but i think they should have a smoking section in arenas and places like that where you're outdoors. If we're talking about a dome, then yea maybe I can agree with it but if its outdoors I think you should let people smoke. That was one the cool things about PNC Park in Pittsburgh.. they had a smoking section which was in an area where there was no concession stands or nothin like that.. basically if you were in that area you were a smoker.. and then the non smokers had thier piece cause they were on the other end of the park.. but yea.. they enforced non smoking in PNC Park too so that's over. I can see the non smokers point though but as a smoker, I don't like it.

Zero2Cool (13-May) : Sources spoke of many, many times last summer where Hackett called a play, then Rodgers changed it completely at the line
Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.

beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then

Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
