Cheesey chirped:

Plus, both the Packers and Seachickens will know going into their game which team they will have to play for the NFC title if they win

So what? What possible advantage is that before going into a game against a different opponent?

WPR waxed:

Probably so but advantage is minimal. The players get the same number of practices. The coaching staff plans ahead of time anyway. They are not starting for scratch. They already know what both SF and MN runs for both their offense and defense. They have been scouting both teams all year long.

Perhaps, but a free, focused stress free film session when a team knows they are playing one of those opponents for its playoff life is clearly an advantage....how much of an advantage is a mute point. There should be the minimum advantage....i.e. conference games should be played on the same day.

Well, knowing whether you would be playing at home or in San Francisco I think would matter to the players and coaches.
If the Vikings get lucky and pull off the upset, knowing the Packers would get them here could give us an advantage as we beat them twice.
Knowing they would have to travel to SF might lead to a letdown, as we got creamed there.

Skubalon!!!
I dont want my team thinking about ANYTHING BUT THE SEAHENS!!!!! NOTHING!!!! Not their wives, kids, Golden Globes, State Farm Commercials...NOTHING.

Focus on the task at hand. That is what all the good coaches want their players to do.
