Great, Barfarn...just what we need. Is this the guy who turned Arguayo from high draft pick into a camp leg?

The Martell talk has to stop. Not an NFL punter.

At least this was exciting. We get so little to comment on it's nice for a change. Huge day with a 7th rounder in two years and a punter who couldn't hang in warm Tampa but will in frigid Green Bay. What B is saying makes sense. Sounds like they wanted Tim out right quick.

I'm going to say something that none of you have thought so far.

This looks to me like the Jon Ryan for Derrick Frost mistake.

Kicking in Tampa (vs Green Bay's weather), Schum's stats were worse than Masthay's:

Masthay:
44.2 ave, 40.1 net, 33.8% inside the 20, 7.4% touchback

Schum:
41.9 ave, 39.4 net, 26.8% inside the 20, 7.1% touchback

Understand changing kickers, but shouldn't the guy you replace him with be an upgrade at the position? The whole move just does not seem to make sense on the face of it.

I'm with Z2C, scares me this is going to be like Ryan / Frost.
Ted Thompson obviously did not learn any lessons about cutting your punter for someone who couldn't beat out the competition on their old team.

That Masthay was released doesn't bother me. He was too inconsistent. Loved it when he would get hang time and let the ST gunner get down there and keep the ball from going into the end zone but there wasn't enough of that.

It's kind of funny that TeddyT doesn't want to get rid of one of the 22 players he is going to release in a few days in order to keep Masthay just in case Schum fails miserably in the KC game.

I am not sure Schum is the answer. What has changed for him to make him so desirable? I doubt there has been anything new added to his approach.

In Ryan's case he got a punting coach that helped him get on track after the GB ST coach messed up his kicking style. A coach the Packers refused to let him use so they made 2 mistakes with him.

I'm sure Jake has upside we're not aware of.😕 Who cares about the numbers saying Schum is a step down? 😠

Not the person who should.

Is Mason set to miss some with a new holder?

Schum can't be the best solution for our punting situation.

Ted Thompson sits on his hands per former GM: "because they’ve had 25 fricking years of great quarterbacks. Of course it works. Try it without a special quarterback."

Just from re watching his preseason punts he doesn't have a very big leg. Though it looks like he's got much better hangtime than Masthay and he seems good at getting it inside the 20. I don't see the need to make a last minute move for this guy but I don't think he's worse than Masthay from what I've seen.

Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.

Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
