Keep an eye on someone like Jamon Meredith in the 2nd or 3rd round for the Packers (especially if he slips just a little bit after the first run of OT's), if we don't go OT in the first. He seems like a Ted Thompson/Mike McCarthy kind of guy: smart, experienced, and versatile (played both tackle positions as well as guard in college, out of necessity).

I would love something like:
1: Everette Brown
2. William Moore
3a. Jamon Meredith
3b. Ron Brace

You're absolutely spot on with Jamon Meredith.

If you're looking safety then look at Louis Delmas from none other than Western Michigan. I think he's the best overall safety in the draft and would be a nice fit with Nick Collins in the back end of the secondary.

William Moore had a tough Senior season.

As far as my wish list goes.

Round 1

Jason Smith, OT, Baylor or Brian Orakpo, DE/LB, Texas

Round 2

Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU, Clay Matthews, LB, USC, or Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan.

I have taken it to task to study Peria Jerry thoroughly... the more I watch him and his play, especially taking on doubles, while he gets pushed around a little, he plays so well with his hands that he sheds blocks very well.. the more and more I am rock solid convinced that he would shine at DE in the 3-4.. enough burst and push to provide some pressure, seems to play on the offensive side of the LOS very often.. disrupting type of player.

But truly, I think he would be able to play a high number of snaps this season and provide excellent immediate depth on the DL.. Dlineman in a 3-4 are typically not superstars, they are just the glue of the defense.. Jerry seems like he would just be a instant fit and seems to have some natural leadership qualities..

Some say 9 is too high.. while I might not completely agree.. if you can move down and still land him.. start the slide now.

I wouldn't mind trading down for him. We'd have to find a good trade partner though. Trading the 9th for the 20th and the 1st in the 2nd round seems good, but the Lions would have to sign two big contracts.

With that, alot of mock drafts seem to have the Bucs taking him at 19. Maybe trade for a 1st round 19, 2nd round 19 for the first round 9th? That would be a pretty good trade down imo.

As for the guy. I'd like to see him here aswell. We need a good DE and NT imo. For the first round I'd like Ted to not get a OLB and go for either a 3-4 DE/NT or for an OT.

We'll see what Ted does though. One thing everyone sees to forget is that he always seems to draft on talent instead of on need. Although it has worked so far, we really need some helps along the lines, so if he does indeed draft on talent, I hope he'll at least make some traders or signings.

If Jerry is their man, a trade down involving a veteran that we need could be doable too. I haven't thought about it enough to consider what options those would be, but it's something to keep in mind (although not really in the Ted Thompson style).

But acquiring an extra third or better would be.. But throw in some tape of Jerry verses Raji.. and tell me in game action whom is the better player?

Remember Brace drew a ton of attention off Raji.. allowing him to play more one on one..

At 6'3" and between 290 and 305.. he might be a tad shorter than ideal but the kid can flat out play.

Some say at 25 he is a little long in the tooth for a rookie and worth of a #1.. but I say he some a little more mature than a Raji in interviews..

Let's just say I have been impressed with some of the play I have watched from Jerry.. now.. I don't have the footage that teams have and I can honestly say I didn't watch enough of Ole Miss ball to really say he brought it game in and out.. just basing it on the footage one can get on some of the draft sites and other locations..

You would think a trade down for Jerry would be a move right up TT's alley. I would guess trading down to 17 or 18 would be worthy of gaining a second round pick. Not sure what the value chart numbers show.

That move would give us five picks in the top 85 or so and in a strong draft class in the DE, OLB and OT positions surely the BPA scenario will fall in line with those positions by the time we are through the 3rd round.

I will stay with Raji though and here is why.

The top 3-4 defenses in the league were Pitt, Baltimore, and New England. ALL THREE TEAMS used #1 picks at NT. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

Trading down for Peria Jerry would make sense, but I see little chance that he's the guy at No. 9.

Personally I like Peria Jerry and I think he'd work as a 3-4 DE, but he just doesn't seem like the type of value that Ted Thompson likes to get in round one. Then again Ted Thompson reached for Justin Harrell, but I actually think Jerry is a pretty good player.

I say go with this: (By Round)

1: B.J. Raji or Everette Brown
2: Larry English or Ron Brace (depending on if we get Raji)

Also, it'd be GREAT if we could get Jordan Gross in FA, that would allow us to have one more draft pick to spend on another talented player.

Chris Canty and/or Igor Olshansky would help A LOT too.

I didn't know where to post this so I'll just put it here.

Yahoo Sports' new 2 round Mock has us taking Orakpo in the 1st and Tyson Jackson in the 2nd (falling to us?? lol). I would take that and run as fast as I could.

The key is will Ted Thompson consider ANY player worthy by the time we pick? His staff my very well determine there are only X number of players worth selecting at #9 and if none are available he could go another way.

I think the Harrell pick is a little different because that draft and this one are not the same in the level of talent. Unfortunately for us those worth early first round were all taken so hence he rolled the dice a little there.
