Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes and no interceptions in Sunday's win at Chicago, giving him a career total of 229 touchdowns and 57 interceptions. Anyone who follows football knows that's phenomenal. But it's worth pointing out just how phenomenal that really is: Rodgers now has more than four times as many touchdowns...

Anyway, Aaron does stat whore and hold onto the ball and all that, but his WR are KNOWN for not getting separation. I've mentioned it elsewhere. Dude has to put it in a 6 inch hole at 40 yards. And he does it.

Besides, IMO I don't think Mike schemes to get guys open. He's not trying to outsmart OCs.

I keep hearing this embarrassment of riches BS about our receiving corp, but I just don't see that on the field. They don't get separation from the DB's, and if we had an average QB, we'd be in deep shit. Rodgers makes these guys a lot better than they are. Favre did that the same.

Amongst wide receivers last year, Cobb was fourth in yards after the catch and Nelson was seventh. I doubt that would be the case if they were never getting separation.

Still, I agree with you. Think about what this Offense could do if we had a guy like Bryant, Beckham, Green, Cooper or Jones... It wouldn't just give Rodgers a weapon the likes he's never had, but it shifts coverage to one side of the field and calls for double coverage and safeties helping over the top. It improves your entire receiving group.

The only problem with that is that those athletic freaks are generally gone when we're drafting, combined with the fact that our FO doesn't seem to have high positional value on WR (in the draft). Those five guys I mentioned were all drafted with top 12 picks, apart from Dez who droppe due to character issues.

Still, it would be rather amazing to see Rodgers play with a guy like that.
