After a few years of putting it on the ground twice every three games on punt returns, I can live with Hyde getting rocked every so often even when I think he should just fair catch it. He's proven he can take shots without coughing it up. Myself and several other people here said it in years past - I'd rather have someone just stand back there and fair catch it every time than cough it up once every 10 times.

I prefer Hyde back there because I trust him not to fumble the ball. I don't feel the same about anyone else on the roster (including Cobb).

I remember some were wanting to go after Hester as a return specialist saying we need better returners, and I said I thought we already had a punt returner just as good as Hester in punts (Ave wise) with Hyde already. If I looked it up correctly looks like Hyde was #1 in return yard average of all those that returned at least two punts. (Rams trick return against the Seahawk that went 90 yards and sorta won them that game is the only guy that beat Hyde but that was his only punt return of the season and it was a trick)

Though when the Colots picked up a nice kick return specialist in Josh Cribbs. I thought Janis might do that for us but he hasn't been able to crack 46 man game day roster for some reason (STs?) But he looked good as a kick returner in the preseason and I though they might have a special package for him (like they said they had with Franklin last year) to use Janis great spend to trick the defense... but let's save that for the Seahawk. But get the run going and a surprise deep shot to Janis would be great... or a crossing pattern short pass to such the defense in and have his speed go around the long way.
