... we're starting to think Finley could wind up back with the Packers if he's cleared again.

I would not be surprised. They just love the guy. Plain and simple.

I was thinking there was no way, with how careful they are with this stuff, and I am leaning to this direction where he just won't be medically cleared. But, who knows? If he clears, he's sounding like an automatic in.

The timetable for him to be cleared, less than one year after the injury, and just months after the surgery seems improbable. Highly so to me.

Finley can hit the trail. I'm from Wisconsin, but I'm tired of being milked by so-called-awesome-potential.

I don't see Pat McKenzie ever clearing him to play.

FACT. Pat McKenzie is ultra conservative when it comes to anything from C3 and above.

In a case like Finley's acupuncture may have helped, before the surgery. I don't know. I don't know how severe it was, and I don't know what the condition was. But since he's already had the surgery he's probably fucked.

Some other team Dr. might clear him, but I don't think ours will.

If the Packers don't clear him, I gotta believe just like with Nick Collins, nobody is going to clear him. The fact Mike McCarthy has talked about wanting him back from the get go and not sounding like it's over, makes me think there's a real chance he gets cleared. I don't recall him being this out front on Nick's situation. That seemed and sounded dire from the beginning and it ended up that way.

But, I do question his actually being cleared to play, especially so early. I just can't see McKenzie doing that. McCarthy will be the good cop in this, and McKenzie the bad cop. And, he has to be. As his doctor and the team's physician, he has to look out for the well being of Jermichael Finley. First and foremost. I cannot see how he touches the field this year.

I think Thompson knew that, or suspected that his clearing would be nearly impossible, hence the Richard Rodgers pick. I hope I'm wrong, because that could make for one hell of a 2 TE set. Maybe that can happen in 2015...

The guy is a force to be reckoned with. He has size he has speed and he can break tackles. His mere presence opens up options for other weapons on the offense.

When reading these numbers, keep in mind the Packers had one helluva trio of WR to spread the ball around with as well. Therefore, not every ball can be thrown to Finley.

2012
Receptions: 61 (most by Packers TE)
Yards: 667
TD: 2
Ave: 10.9

2011
Receptions: 55
Yards: 767 (3rd most by Packers TE)
TD: 8 (5th most by Packers TE)
Ave: 13.9

All this yapping about "potential" unreached is BSquat! Can he improve more? Of course he can. Hell, even A.J. Hawk excelled after we ALL assumed he had flatlined his potential seasons ago.

Finley's problem is health. You listen to his coaches, to his teammates and they ALL rave about his ethic and how good of a team player he is. We fans, myself included, have ignorantly abused Finley as our whipping boy and let me tell you ... if Finley is the best whipping boy we can find, then we should be pretty damn happy.

I'm stepping down from my soap box to ask you a question. What do you want out of Jermichael Finley that will make you say "Ok, that boy has reached his potential"?

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.

beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then

Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
