The ESPN Insiders NFL team of veteran reporter Mike Sando along with Bill Polian, Louis Riddick, Matt Williamson and Field Yates combined to grade all 32 teams in free agency so far.

When it came to the Green Bay Packers, apparently the big-splash signing of defensive end Julius Peppers was only enough to warrant a grade of slightly better than average. The Packers also re-signed some of their own key free agents, including cornerback Sam Shields, defensive tackle B.

As with the draft, you can't effectively assess a F.A. move prior to the season starting. Joe Johnson, Hardy Nickerson, and Albert Haynesworth all likely generated good grades prior to playing a down for their teams.

I assume Ted cares more about accumulating compensatory picks than making a splash in F.A. or getting an "A" from ESPN writers.

This. I think Ted covets compensatory picks (I mean, he covets ALL draft picks, heh heh). In his mind, they are more potential Mike Daniels, Josh Sitton's, TJ Lang's, and Michah Hyde's.

Agreed. I hope ESPN, CNNSI, etc. keep saying the Packers failed in F.A. In all likelihood it means Ted is responsibly building the team as he should be.
