Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver attempted Thursday to shed light on what Greg Jennings might have meant when he questioned quarterback Aaron Rodgers' leadership ability last month.

“We’ve always said that the quarterback is the one that needs to take the pressure off everyone else,” Driver told ESPN. “If a guy runs the wrong route, it’s easy for the quarterback to say, ‘Hey, I told him to run that route,’ than for the guy to be like, ‘Well, I ran the wrong route.

“Sometimes you ask Aaron to take the pressure off the guys so we won’t look bad, but he didn’t want to do that. He felt like if you did something bad, you do it. But I think that’s the difference. You want that leadership, and I think sometimes you may not feel like you got it. You have to earn that respect at the end of the day, and I think that’s what Greg was probably referring to.”

I look at personality traits when I see relationships play out. I can see how the personalities of Greg Jennings and Aaron Rodgers didn't work out. I also don't think it is the QB's job to be anybody's friend on the team. I don't care too much about the team loving each other. I care about a teammate seeing the guy next to them making plays and caring about what they do, and that inspiring them to operate in the same way.

A QB taking responsibility for poor route-running has got to be one of the dumbest things I've ever heard! If that has anything to do with GJ's comments then he's a bigger child than I thought.

I was never crazy about Jennings...now I know why. I love Aaron much more...he's a Packer.

DISCLAIMER---This got way longer than I intended but I got on a roll and couldn't stop. You might want to go to the bathroom now so you don't have to get up in the middle of it. You have been warned. Proceed at your own risk.---END DISCLAIMER

So now Driver's comments about what he THINKS Jennings MAY have been thinking are being used against Jennings and not against Driver. Wow, signing with the vikings must be the ultimate death sentence for packers fans.

I've said it before, at least I think I did, I've started so many replies on this topic and then thought better of it, players don't make this stuff up out of thin air. If Jennings says what he says there is a reason for it and it isn't necessarily sour grapes. You've got two receivers now, one who is presumably still held in high regards by most Packers fans who have intimated that just maybe there is more to Rodgers than we see. I guess Driver is just making stuff up to protect his friend Jennings.

You won't hear Jones or Nelson or Finley saying things against Rodgers because they are still on the team but it would not surprise me one bit that if they were ever not on the team for whatever reason that they may say similar things. As for Woodson, maybe he just didn't see it. I'm not even sure what IT is but not everyone sees it the same way. Maybe it was a QB/WR thing the CW would not have been privy to. That doesn't mean it didn't exist.

I do agree that DD's comment were a little stupid. It should not be up to the QB (or anyone else for that matter) to get other players off the hook for something they messed up. The thing is apparently some of them do at least some time so maybe Rodgers not doing it seems a little odd to DD. Of course I don't think DD meant that the QB has to take all the blame. As much as we think we know DD I think we can assume that he is not one to shirk his responsibility. From what we know DD owns his own mistakes and up until he signed with the vikings I think most Packers fans would have said the same about Jennings.

I know Rodgers is a great QB. One of the tops in the league right now if not the top and I am glad he is on our team. That does not mean he is perfect. Of course no one expects him to be perfect so I'll say that in another way, that doesn't mean he doesn't have flaws. Even if those flaws are perceived differently by different people. Some people may not see them as flaws at all and that is up to them but others may and there is nothing wrong with that either.

It is my opinion that the longer Rodgers stays at the top the more things we are going to hear about him that do not portray him in the most flattering light. Of course you will get the "haters gonna hate" line from a lot of fans who refuse to believe that their QB is really just a human being and not a God in NFL players clothing. Sorry to be the one to break it to you but he is a human being, warts and all. Rodgers is not my favorite player on the team. I can see a lot of the things that other people (not necessarily ex teammates) are saying about him. I do think he is still hung up on the fact that the 49ers chose Smith and that he fell so far that he still needs to feel he needs to prove himself. I do think that he takes things a bit too personally at times. At some point he is going to say something that a lot of people will not like. Some will give him a pass because he is a great Packers QB. Some will take him to task over it because he is a great Packers QB. He is a bit arrogant and cocky but he backs it up with his play so again he gets a pass from many people and even from me a bit I guess. The thing about Rodgers is that he knows this team depends on him. He knows he is the leader and IMO he does act like the leader. He know that as he goes so goes the Green Bay Packers. When you know something like that it is difficult to stay humble.

The biggest problem in all this is the media. Nothing sells like controversy so they can not pass up an opportunity to create it. Personally I would love it if players would just tell reporters to pound sand if they asked questions like this but it won't happen outside of a a very few isolated instances.

reporter #1: So Greg, what was it like to be on the same team with Aaron Rodgers?

Jennings: I am not on the same team with Aaron Rodgers any more. I would prefer to talk about the vikings.

reporter #1: Yeah but we all know the vikings suck and no one cares about them. All they want to know about is Aaron Rodgers. What was he REALLY like.

Jennings: The vikings players are my teammates now and I would prefer we talk about them.

reporter #1: OK, if you insist. You know as well as everyone that Christian Ponder is not fit to carry Aaron Rodgers' jock. What on earth made you think that it was a wise move to come to a team with such a crappy QB and leave a team with a player like Aaron Rodgers leading it?

Jennings: Look, Aaron is a great QB, one of the best in the league. Christian is not at his level but very few are. Christian is a good QB who just needs to get a little experience and we have a good core of players around him.

Reporter #1: So you think the receivers can make Christian into a better QB as opposed to Green Bay where Aaron Rodgers made the receivers better.

Jennings: That is not what I said. Besides I think I did pretty well in Green Bay before Aaron came along.

Reporter #1: So you think Brett Favre was better than Aaron Rodgers.

Jennings; Both were great QBs and I consider myself fortunate to have played with them.

Reporter#1: Yeah, but come on which one was better...it was Favre right. I knew it you think Favre was better that's why you left the Packers. You are still pissed because Ted Thompson let Favre go and you came to the vikings tp stick it to Ted Thompson because Favre did and you were hoping that if you signed here you could convince Favre to come back so you could team up with him again.

Jennings: That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard.

Reporter #1: is it now? I mean come on. Christian Ponder. Seriously...Christian freaking Ponder. You would seriously rather catch passes from Christian Ponder than Aaron Rodgers. Or maybe I should say TRY to catch passes from Christian Ponder because believe me you will really have to try with him throwing the ball. It won't be like Aaron Rodgers throwing the ball exactly where it should be. This team has Adrian Peterson and that is it, Oh, and MAYBE that kicker is the real deal but you aren't going to win many games kicking field goals. With that Defense lead by old man Allen you are going to need TDs...and lots of them.

Jennings: That is not how I see it all

reporter #1: That may not be the way you see it but that is the way it is. In fact you had two of the best QBS ever throwing you the ball in Green Bay. Those being Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. Would you agree with Chris Mortenson's comment from earlier in the week that if Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre were gay lovers the sperm passed between them would be more suited to play QB in the NFL than Christian Ponder?

Jennings: I am not going to address such a question.

Reporter#2: So then you are opposed to gay marriage?

Jennings: What? Where the heck did that come from?

reporter#2: so then you support gay marriage?

Jennings: lets get back to football?

Reporter #2: OK, would you support an openly gay player football?

Jennings: Next question:

reporter #2: so you believe that there are gay players in the NFL.

Jennings: does anyone else have any questions.

reporter #3: Mr Jennings...Mr Jennings

Jennings: Yes you there

reporter #3: why don't you answer his question

Jennings: are you two together? I guess those questions about Aaron Rodgers were not so bad after all.

reporter #1: So, what was it like to be on the same team with Aaron Rodgers?

Jennings: I'm out of here.

STORY HEADLINE: JENNINGS TURNS BACK ON AARON RODGERS. On the fence about gay marriage and gays players.

We we haven't heard the end of this.

WHY should the QB take the heat for a WR that screwed up a route?
If that's so, then I guess every time a QB messes up the WR's should take the blame.
MAN UP and take responsibility for your own screw ups.
After all, you are getting millions of dollars and are supposed to be professionals.
Jennings will have PLENTY of times to take the blame for all the screw ups Ponder will be making.
