Now the fun begins. There was plenty of complaining during the FA non signing period. There was even more for the draft. Now we can moan and groan and gripe from now until the end of August about who will actually make the team.

SFA like Stoneburner or Pena can change everything. I didn’t include any of the FAs. It is just too hard to predict. There will be injury casualties. I left Worthy off for now. I had Sherrod off but I put him back when I cut too many from the offense. I had Ryan Taylor cut but decided to keep him and let Mulligan go. Quarless will impact the position depending on his health. Kuhn is gone. I like the guy but I am going without any FB this year. I can see Starks remaining on the team and Harris being cut. I have to assume they will figure out a deal with someone for Starks. Even if it is getting the other team’s unwanted player that GB then cuts.
I am willing to say that Jolly doesn’t make it but I left him on in this first draft. Gilbert Pena could be the SFA that makes the team. I had cut Bush then stuck him back on. It is hard to complain about his ST play.

I hold my breath and click "paste". Let the criticisms begin. BTW if you don't post your own you should.

My compliments on your analysis, wpr.

I'd optimistically put Sherrod ahead of Newhouse; I like the 6 wideouts, but I'd throw Dorsey in the mix too, possibly ahead of Boykin; Much as I, too, would like to see Kuhn gone, I doubt they go without a FB. Maybe Taylor fits in there; Maybe either Green or Starks can convert to FB, but I doubt that even more.

I'm looking for Stoneburner to beat out D.J. Williams also. And Harrell/Coleman is 50/50 at this point.

Something interesting for this year is that our #4 WR (who typically plays a decent amount of snaps) is going to be an unproven low round pick or undrafted guy. We have usually had a higher pick or semi proven player there the last few years (Driver,Jones, Nelson,Cobb). It looks like one of the young guns is going to get a chance to step up. This is a pretty big opportunity for someone and should be a good competition.

I actually like Bakhtiari Competing for the job at LT with Sherrod. David has really impressed me with the tape I've seen thus far.. He's got long arms and finishes block very well.

Here's my top 53 players on the depth chart going into Mini camp. I'll add some UDFA's that I think

QB:2
1. Aaron Rodgers
2. Graham Harrell

UDFA's: Matt Brown QB

We need to figure out who the 2nd in command at the QB position is. And like most people I don't know if Harrell can hold it down. And Coleman is not that special. Look for us to look for one in free agency if none pan out in the during the camps.

RB:4
1. Eddy Lacy
2. Johnathan Franklin
3. DaJuan Harris
4. Alex Green

Most depth we've have at Running back in a long long time. DaJaun and Johnathan will fight for number 2, and Lacy will probably be our starting RB. Alex Green and James Starks are on the chopping block. They will be fighting for that number 4 spot. Which will probably go to Green most likely but I think if Starks is healthy he will make the team. Starks reminds me of Jarrett Bush. He's inconsistent but will contribute when if need be as a backup. Could Franklin be that Darren Sproles of our offense? Can he return kicks/punts?

FB:1
1.John Kuhn

WR:5
1.Jordy Nelson
2.James Jones
3.Randall Cobb
4.Charles Johnson
5.Kevin Dorsey

Was not Impressed with Boykin and Jeremy Ross is on the chopping block as well. Plus we don't know if Boykin will be healthy when it's all said and done.

I look for our 2 rookies to push strong for the 4th and 5th WR spots.

TE:3
1.Jermichael Finley
2.D.J. Williams
3.Andrew Quarless

UDFA's: Jake Stoneburner TE

After Finely it's a complete toss up. We don't know if Quarless will come back improved or not. D.J Williams hasn't been anything special yet. I highly Doubt Taylor will make the Roster for a 3rd time. Never seen Mulligan play.. Haha you never know maybe that UDFA Stoneburner will be our number 2 or 3 if he impresses over our crop.

OL:9

LT:
1.Marshall Newhouse
2.David Bakhtiari
3.Derrick Sherrod

LG:
1.T.J. Lang
2.J.C. Tretter

C:
1.Evan Dietrich-Smith

RG:
1.Josh Sitton

RT:
1.Brian Bulaga
2.Don Barclay

UDFA's: Patrick Lewis C, Lane Taylor G

Depending on Sherrods health I think Bakhtiari can push for the starting LT role. I'm really impressed by him and his tape. Worst case scenero he will be a great backup for Newhouse and Bulaga. And his versatility allows him to maybe backup both Guards. We have great depth this year on the line imo.

DL:7

NT:
1.B.J. Raji
2.Ryan Pickett

RE:
1. Mike Neal
2. C.J Wilson

LE:
1.Datone Jones
2.Josh Boyd
3.Jerel Worthy

UDFA's: Gilbert Pena NT

I think we have a lot of depth here as well pending the Jerel Worthy Injure. Ryan Pickett should play where he Is most suited NT. As well as Johnny Jolly which I have my doubts he'll make it but you never know. Datone Jones will start for sure just like they've thrown Nick Perry in the mix fast last year they will do the same this year for Jones. I still think Neal will start beside Raji and Jones as well. Wilson and Boyd will compete for that 2nd spot. Boyd will most likely backup up one of the 2 DEs if Worthy is Puped imo. I think Daniels is not gurrenteed a spot on this team, I'm sure he'll make it but I think if the team wants to get bigger and stronger he may get cut. Very undersized to play in this scheme maybe even any scheme.

LB:10

ROLB:
1.Clay Matthews
2.Dezman Moses

MLB:
1.Desmond Bishop
2.Brad Jones
3.A.J. Hawk
4.Robert Francois
5.Terrell Manning
6.Sam Barrington

LOLB:
1.Nick Perry
2.Nate Palmer

UDFA's: Andy Mulumba OLB

Not as great of depth as I'd like especially at OLB. Hope they know what they found in Nate Palmer and Sam Barrington. I really hope they decide to keep Bishop and not trade him. Even if they're worried about him coming back to form from injure. I'd still take a look at him in training camp and see how's he does. If they do he should be playing along with Brad Jones when it's all said and done.

DB:9

CB:
1.Tramon Williams
2.Sam Shields
3.Casey Hayward
4.Davon House
5.Jarrett Bush

FS:
1.Micah Hyde
2.M.D. Jennings

SS:
1.Morgan Burnett
2.Jeron McMillian

UDFA's: Ben Ericksen S, Cedrick Moore S, Damond Smith CB, Devin Willis CB

I don't have faith in our Safteys at the moment. I don't feel Comfortable with M.D. Jennings starting. So i'm gonna give this kid Micah Hyde a shot for now. I love our corners still, great depth, if we decide to use Hyde at Corner we'll even have greater depth. We have 4 corners on this team that has started in the past year and played well so I'm not concerned there. I just hope we do something at Saftey. I'm so scared for that position right now it's not even funny.

The reason I went without a FB is I think they can do the same job with other players. I don't know for sure how many times Kuhn was a lead blocker on a play let's say 10 times out of his 15-18 times he was on the field. You can have Lacy lead block a few of those snaps. One of the TE perhaps can pick up some of the others. Perhaps the other HB would get a few times too. I think Raji did it a few times last year for a twist. Obviously you wouldn't have him do that 6 times a game for 16 games.

Point is GB has a lot more flexibility and unpredictability without Kuhn back there. With the fans shouting Kuuhhnn he became a magnet for the defense and less effective over the past couple of years.

My 2013 53 man roster has some surprises. Notably, Tramon Williams, Marshall Newhouse, Alex Green, James Starks and DJ Williams fail to make the roster, along with Jarrett Boykin, Brandon Ross, Ryan Taylor and CJ Wilson.

Tramon Williams has been showing to start some serious wear and tear over the past two seasons, and his contract numbers are very high. Davon House seems ready to take over, with great, young backup talent behind him in either Hayward or Hyde.

Marshall Newhouse winds up being a victim of numbers on the OL, even though we keep 3 more than we did to start last season. I think Sherrod comes back to claim his #1 LT position, and he's followed closely behind by both Datko and Bakhtiari who also had success at G, but more of a pure LT who just needs some weight/strength to develop. Datko has had a full season and offseason to progress to an NFL weight and strength, and has awesome measurables for LT. Patrick Lewis comes in to back up EDS at C, and I think he may eventually take over the position, should EDS slip.

We only kept 7 OL last year, but a renewed emphasis on the run, along with some better backs, makes keeping the very best OL we have in the house imperative, and more of them at 10. Especially considering Rodgers needs better protection, having been the most sacked QB last season. This unit sees 4 new faces added to the roster for 2013.

Both Green and Starks have proven unreliable, as good as they have flashed. Can't make the roster in the hot tub. The frustrations of the staff in this regard seemed evident last season. Cedric Benson will show the rookies the way at the NFL level. Not a bad tutor.

Last year we kept 6 WRs, but with the talent of the RBs added, the shift to a more ground-game approach makes one of them expendable, while upgrading Boykin and Ross with Johnson and Dorsey. Maybe one of each, Boykin/Ross - Johnson/Dorsey makes it. I'm thinking Stoneburner makes the loss of one WR here from last year moot. We've often put our TEs out as WRs.

We kept 4 TEs last season, but the Stoneburner addition, along with supreme tackling talents added at LB this year, make keeping both Williams and Taylor unnecessary for STs.

4 UDFAs make this roster in Smith, Mulumba, Stonburner and Lewis. The first three of these guys will make awesome STs players.

I love Tramon Williams, I just wonder if his shoulder injury having affected his play for two seasons running will prevent him from keeping these young guns at bay for his job. I'm thinking maybe not... maybe, maybe, Jarrett Bush bites the dust in favor of Damon Smith instead. I might rather see that if Smith can do some good things on STs.

Really, really too bad that Patrick Lewis can't do LS work... I checked and Texas A7M did use a LS as a specialist. That is such a valuable roster spot, and it would be nice to have one C who could do both.

I would not want to go lighter on either line again, where last season we only kept 7 OL and 6 DL. We lost too many important games in the trenches. Couldn't run block. Couldn't keep Rodgers from being most sacked in the NFL. Couldn't stop the run. Couldn't regularly get to the QB from the DL position. That is changing with this 2013 roster.

I am excited to see how Bakhtiari adjusts to the NFL game at the edge.. upper body wise not sure he can handle the edge.. struggles with speed rushers and slow to establish that first step and anchor.. not sure he will stick at tackle. Probably a swing guy.. I wish him or Trekker.. or someone comes in and becomes an ass kicker in the middle of that line.. I think and have thought it has been missing for a great while in Green Bay.. Flanny was probably the last real nasty physical guy inside. Lang, Sitton and ??? would make a truly physical trio in the middle.
