Updated my first post to reflect a few changes. I took one LB and gave it to S. But I think Brad Jones could take the 53rd spot away from Anthony Levine.

Injuries really take a toll, especially now when key decisions must be made on a final roster. Francois suffering a hammy might take him out entirely. Really bad timing for him, but possibly good for So'oto. DJ Willaims with the ankle is a tough blow too. Sounds like he was doing great in practice, but availability is key. My guess is they IR him just to protect him for next year. Quarless looks like he might be coming back after week 6, which would be huge. As for injuries, Starks... what do you say? IR. He's mostly unavailable, which does not work on this team. Maybe he can prove himself next year. Give the Tyler kid a shot at the #3 RB. He seems tough, and looks like he really wants this - ran decent behind our dismal #2 & #3 OL. Kid needs a quick study on picking up a blitz, since Starks cannot do it from the hot tub. I'd like to see what Tyler would do behind #1 OL blocking.

I really like keeping more LBs and more DL this year in order to keep everyone fresh. Looks like both areas are really improved. Our D just gets put back onto the field so quickly, that I think it best we plan for more bodies there this year for a better rotation.

House is a tough call. He was looking so good, but I question whether he can contribute enough wearing a harness. Maybe he goes IR too, and we give Ross or Merrill a shot.

With this roster set up, we have more LBs, more DL and more WR than we did on our SB winning 2010 roster. Same number of OL9, DB10, TE3. This could serve us well. Again, keeping the extra WR might prove a good value decision for possible trade by week 6, or simply for insurance at skill positions.

Doesn't DJ Williams just have an ankle sprain? Why would be be put on the injured reserve for such an injury? Especially after supposedly having one of the best camps on the team. I don't get that prediction at all.

I dont believe they have seen enough out of any of the 3 WRs on the bubble, Boykin, Gurley or Borel to find a roster spot for them.
Boykin goes to PS, while the 2 others could end up on other teams roster.

I would have liked to find Sean Richardson a roster spot, but I dont see how it happens, unless they only carry 9s LBs, I hope he sticks around for the PS.

Here is how I see it play out.

    QB (2)

    Aaron Rodgers
    Graham Harrell

    RB (4)

    Cedric Benson
    Alex Green
    Brandon Saine
    John Kuhn

    Wide Recievers (5)

    Greg Jennings
    Jordy Nelson
    James Jones
    Randall Cobb
    Donald Driver

    Tight Ends (4)

    Jermichael Finley

    Offensive Lineman (9)

    G Josh Sitton
    T Bryan Bulaga
    T Andrew Datko
    G/C Evan Dietrich-Smith
    G/T Reggie Wells
    T Derek Sherrod

    Defensive Lineman (6)

    Jerel Worthy
    B.J. Raji
    Ryan Pickett
    CJ Wilson
    Philip Merling
    Mike Daniels

    Linebackers (10)

    Clay Matthews
    A.J. Hawk
    D.J. Smith
    Nick Perry
    Dezman Moses
    Robert Francois
    Brad Jones
    Vic So'oto
    Terrell Manning
    Jamari Lattimore

    Cornerbacks (6)

    Tramon Williams
    Charles Woodson
    Jarrett Bush
    Casey Hayward
    Sam Shields
    Davon House

    Safeties (4)

    Morgan Burnett
    Jerron McMillian
    M.D. Jennings
    Anthony Levine

    Special Teams (3)

    Mason Crosby
    Tim Masthay
    Brett Goode

After week one i think Vic So'oto is cut to make room for Erik Walden.
After week 4, i think either Philip Merling or Mike Daniels is let go to make room for Mike Neal, depending on the injury situation at that point, could be another position group thats trimmed down.

    PUP:
    Frank Zombo
    Andrew Quarless

They could try to sneak Datko on to the PS, and pick up someelse on waiver, someone with game experience and can play 2 positions on the line.

Do the Packers get a roster exception for Mike Neal and Erik Walden during their suspensions? I'm thinking that's two roster spots taken.

The timing of injuries is pretty much key with how this roster will break down to 53. I don't like the idea of IR for the guy, but really, how many huge plays has Williams given us? None that I can think of. Add to the mix that we may be getting Quarless back after his stint on the PUP. How many TEs can we keep?

Ryan Taylor seems the better of the two in STs and as a blocker. As it stands, we might be better served using DJ Williams' spot for another LB in rotation.

DJ Williams played in 13 games in 2011, with just 2 receptions for a total of 13 yds. Most prolific TE ever to come out of Arkansas, I expected more from him last season. Now the ankle injury is taking him out of the last two preseason games. How do you keep the guy over someone who might contribute more elsewhere?

    2 rec for 17 yds v. SD
    3 rec for 35 yds v. CLE

I like the player and have nothing against him, just looking at the roster as a whole. Is he more important to us than, say, keeping Richardson? Barclay? Gurley? Maybe! I don't know, but I just threw it out there as an option.

The ankle sprain would allow them to IR him and keep him with GB vs. cutting him. That was my thinking. They seem to like him, but he's not been available the past two weeks leading up to some important decision making. Same kind of thing could cost Starks a job, another player I think most of us like. Francois? He's another with what looks like a very untimely injury.

I'm questioning my So'oto pick, but with a good showing tonight, he might stick...

Eh, I just don't agree with ya. Williams is the 2nd best tight end on the Packer's roster, including Quarless imo, and reports from camp support that. His rookie stats don't really mean anything to me. He was a rookie in a lock out year. Finley didn't do much his rookie year either, without a lock out. Moreover, some players simply need a little time to develop. Unless Williams ankle is broken or something, there's no way he ends up on IR . . . at least until something more serious occurs.

    doddpower,

My bigger point is that there are going to be some quality players dropped from this team tomorrow, and injuries will play a factor. Who knows?

One thing we may be able to do is stash a couple extra players who aren't 100% healthy right now on the PUP. From what I understand, there is no limit there. Why not?

Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
      Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.

beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
