We're going to be able to put 5 corners and Burnett on the field: Woodson, Williams, Shields, House, and Hayward. That is going to be 6 ball Hawks in the secondary. Bring it offenses.

Woodson should just swallow the pride and move to SS. He plays the line of scrimmage anyway.

Second, last time at SS (for Bigby) Woodson took a beating... he was making the tackles but he was getting the worst of the hits. I'm not sure if Woodson's body would hold up with a full season of that.

Bush has practice at S a good bit because of Safety injuries, and when they go to 3 Safeties on the roster Bush practices back there. Which would make more sense to me.

Charles Woodson basically IS the Nickelback. Shields and Williams cover the perimeter. Woodson doesn't really have a primary position. Quit trying to change him!!!

Some of you guys live in a fantasy world when it comes to Packer players. If they called all the holding that Woodson does, we'd have to bench him. He's getting pretty old to play corner anymore, but whatever keep up the faith I guess.

Instead of playing at the line where he can his vet tactics such as holding (and getting away with it), bump and run, changing up coverages, taking risk to make a play knowing he's got a Safety behind him to back him up if it doesn't work out for him. A move to S takes all that away from him, making him worse.

I feel the same way about Woodson as I do Driver - they play and hold back the maturation of a younger player.

But Shields got benched and replaced by Bush for the nickel position near the of the year. If the younger guys can't hold off Bush for that nickel spot, then they don't deserve the starting spot.

Hey Wilde! What are the chances Woodson moves to safety, with the two DB picks and still having Williams and Shields? Or does Capers move him around?
– Tyler, via Twitter (@trames)

Hey Tyler! Neither Dom Capers nor Joe Whitt dismissed that idea out of hand, but I think your second question hits on the real issue – Capers likes to use Woodson in so many different ways I think he’d be reluctant to make him a true safety. And as safeties coach Darren Perry said right after the season, Woodson would have a hard time when he’d have to play back in centerfield because he is a playmaker and would want to be in the middle of the action. That said, Woodson does serve as a safety somewhat frequently and lines up there in their “Corner Okie” defense. So I think you’ll see him there this season, but not all the time.

Tramon Williams is a lock at cornerback.

If Sam Shields returns to his 2010 form, and Casey Hayward is the top backup cornerback. I could see Charles Woodson playing Safety.

Williams, Shields, Hayward, Burnett and Woodson for DB's.

Even with this scenario, House would be coming off the bench. All guys who can get it done. I love this depth.

I think Charles Woodson fills in where needed more between Safety and Corner. He's been playing several positions which is another reason why I don't understand so many saying he should be Safety to extend his career. Dom Capers has a fairly fluid defense when it comes to positions. Capers likes to move Matthews and Woodson around to give them an edge.
