Well we just got Mia back from round 3 of chemo yesterday. She was pretty tired today, but handled the chemo really well. We do our diligence in keeping her hydrated and nourished. She takes a potasium pill twice a day, and we now have her on a small sedative because for some reason she doesn't always sleep through the night.

We have been struggling a little bit with her emotions as she is starting to get upset when her sisters go to activities and she has to stay home. Overall it is amazing to watch a 6 year old handle this situation so positively. Whenever I go somewhere, I watch how other children conduct themselves and I am unimpressed with how spoiled children can be. Maybe me being a hardass has payed some dividends for my kids. I had to offset their exposure to being raised in Disneyland from the other side of the family.

Anyway - three treatments down and six to go. Mia has some hair growing back on her head, which is peculiar, because her eye brows and lashes are gone. She's upset with that but the kids at school treat her like a rock star so we're fortunate she isn't being mocked.

hugs to miss mia. she is truly amazing. as are you.

as i sat here watching my 8 year old with a 102 fever yesterday & started freaking out because he was so lethargic, i thought of you & mia. it instantly calmed me down & made me realize it was not that big of a deal.

all y'all hug each other for me, ok?

Dakota.. keep her chugging down that track of victory. Some tough roads but she sounds like she is doing as well as one can expect.

She's tougher than me, man.

I hope the treatments keep going well. I've been quiet in these threads because, frankly, they scare the crap out of me as I'm just getting used to being a dad myself. Your family has been in my thoughts and prayers though.

She IS a rock star.

Oh come on, I'm just doing what anyone would do. Julie and I didn't walk this path alone. We had enormous support.

But when I think about what Mia has endured, I usually shed a few tears. 3 or 4 months ago I had no tolerance for anyone whining about anything. That's starting to subside now so you guys can go back to bitching about point of taxation, crooked politicians, sexual ineptness, or whatever dumb shit topic we bring up in here and I won't get all Red Foreman on anyone.
