I wonder if Chilly would say if he was asked whether bringing Favre in worked out for him. I'd have to think he would do it all over again. Brought them to the NFC championship game last year, nearly to the SB. Got Chilly a very hefty contract extension. He probably won't receive it all in the buyout but he may. And if it's any less it won't be much. I think bringing him in was still definitely the right move and for the Vikings, even though it cost him his job in the long run. If anything it just exemplifies the fine line that exists in the NFL between success and failure. NFL coaching is not a career for the faint of heart.

Letting Brett establish the ground rules for the relationship was the root error. And it cost him.

I wonder if Brett dictating the rules played a role in his going to Vikings. Maybe if the Vikings had some balls and said its gonna be like this, Brett would have said, nah, thanks but no thanks. I do remember Childress and Zygi stating the window for Brett to be a Viking had passed. Then three weeks later, he's on the sidelines in a preseason game. Pretty much showed Brett he can do what he wanted before he even suited up.
