I like Zombo and I like Shields.
Can't stand Clifton or Tauscher. MM's wearing thin with me too.

I'm not worried about last night, but the Pack hasn't looked good so far this season.

Overreaction much? Way to let one loss count more than two wins. Solid win against Philly, mostly impressed that they bent but didn't break against an explosive Vick that's been lighting it up since. The Bills are the Bills, but still a very nice win.

Allow me to rephrase. I'm not worried about the loss, but I would like to see them play to their full potential as a team. Wins are wins but more should be expected from a team with Superbowl aspirations.

I've watched the Bears win ugly for far to many years and teams like the Saints have to come back from 3 TD deficits to eak out wins to worry about style points.

18 PENALTIES. 18 PENALTIES.

Who kicks to Devein Hester ???? Poor ST game plan. you do not kick to Hester!!!

We may need to look a a RB that we can rely on a bit more then Jackson and Kuhn.

The top two I agree with, absolutely. The penalty total is just embarrassing. And again, who the hell kicks to Devin Hester? And in those situations? The first one: Dude, angle it out of bounds - at worst it goes into the end zone and they start at the 20. How hard is that? The second one: Do NOT kick it to him! And if due to some brain fart you can't manage that, get some air under that damn ball. Criminy.

The bolded part I do not agree with - at least as it pertains to this game. For the carries they were given, I think Jackson and Kuhn did fine work. I also think that had the penalties not occurred that negated scores and turnovers, we would have seen more running and thus a more respectable-looking total. The game was not lost because of lack of run-game production, and I believe the situation led them away from the run game, not lack of production. Overall, I can see some merit to the idea of getting someone else in, but not as it relates to that specific game.

But back to the important part: Who the hell kicks to Devin Hester?

The way I look at it is we played terrible and narrowly lost to a rival on their field. We play half way decent and we win the game easy. I talked to Bear fans today who all said the better team lost.

Eighteen penalties for over 150 yards, a PR for a TD, a lousy line drive punt that gave good FP right before halftime, a blocked FG, three INT's we had then didn't have, a TD called back on what I thought was a ticky tack holding call, and NONE of it did us in until Jones fumbles in their territory.

I mean come on. We play even half way decent and it's a win by two TD's.

I won't say we won't play some poor football along the way but I also highly doubt we will see a game where it's just mistake after mistake after mistake and it lasts all game long.

I said in the Bears thread this week that when the Bears win it's always ugly but this one really takes the cake. They GOT a W Monday but they didn't earn it. We just went out and gave it to them.

People want to analyize and dig and figure and ponder, bitch at McCarthy, and scream about a lack of running game, but the bottom line is we puked and no matter how many times we screwed up the Bears were "barely" good enough to do anything with it and lucked up on a win.

Spend a week on it if it makes you feel better. Pretty much a waste of time worrying about it as far as I'm concerned.

+1 Warhawk this is how I felt. Here are a few of my drunk text musings with my friends last night:

- There were so many penalties it got hard to get much of a feel for either team during the game. The flow was so disrupted at points nobody could really get into a good rhythm.
- The only thing that stopped us from winning this game was ourselves
- We spotted the Bears 18 penalties and it still took a last second FG for them to win the game
- We basically dominated them and lost
- We were clearly the better team and a boatload of poorly timed mistakes cost us the game
- The Bears have been getting EXTREMELY lucky so far this season. I want to see what kind of team they are when they don't catch a break
- Both teams left a lot of points off the board. The Bears left 10 points off (Gould missed FG at the start of the game, dropped catch in the end zone) and the Packers left a good 7 off (negated TD, blocked FG)
- Two penalties in the red zone? This is what upsets me about McCarthy. We get into the red zone and we are driving good and then there's an offensive penalty that sets us ten yards back. In both of these situations last night we seemed content to just play for the FG after the penalty instead of take a shot at the TD. This annoys me. With our offense we should be going for the jugular every damn game, no matter the score or the opponent. There is no reason we shouldn't be trying to put up as many points as possible.
- Our offense drove down the field well for the most of the game. Rodgers looked magnificent.
- If our DB's could catch a little better and we lose a few of those penalties were looking at a 6 interception game for Cutler.

I hope this game lights a fire under our ass like Tampa last year.

I suggested to Porforis that he create this thread, and I can't remember if I plussed him up last night, so I will do it here. +1 and good work.

Martha Careful (10-May) : 1. this is true of all our linemen. 2. His run block is fine. 3. If all OL played like he has, we would win SB.
beast (10-May) : Meyers pass blocking is really good, his run blocking is really not.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : Packers have claimed DE Spencer Waege off of waivers from the 49ers and waived DT Rodney Mathews.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : And the OL protections seem to be good.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : I really don't know lol. I don't see him getting blown up.
Zero2Cool (9-May) : -3 buwahhhahaaha
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : 4th
Zero2Cool (9-May) : because he's 1st
Mucky Tundra (9-May) : Myers isn't even the 3rd best C on the roster atm
Martha Careful (9-May) : I am not sure I understand the Myers hate. He was consistently our third best lineman. RG and LT were worse.
beast (9-May) : Just saying I don't think moving Myers would help Myers.
beast (9-May) : Center is usually considered the easiest position physically if you can handle the snap stuff.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : Bust it is then
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Context. Sounds like Myers won't be cross-trained. C or bust.
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : @BookOfEli_NFL Packers pass game coordinator, Jason Vrable said that Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks shared a placed in Florida while train
Mucky Tundra (8-May) : For now...
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers go about evaluating their "best five," OL coach Luke Butkus makes on thing clear: "Josh Myers is our center."
beast (8-May) : Though I'm a bit surprised letting go of CBs, I thought we needed more not less
beast (8-May) : It was confusing with two DB Anthony Johnson anyways
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers actually had Ray Lewis on the phone.
Zero2Cool (8-May) : Packers wanted to draft Ray Lewis. Ravens stole him.
Martha Careful (6-May) : Happy 93rd Birthday to the Greatest Baseball Player of All-Time...Willie Mays
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Walter Stanely's son
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : and released CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waived/injured WR Thyrick Pitts (thigh-rick).
buckeyepackfan (6-May) : The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us) and WR Dimitri Stanley
Zero2Cool (6-May) : Petty, but it's annoying me how the NFL is making the schedule release an event.
Mucky Tundra (4-May) : @mattschneidman Matt LaFleur on how he tore his pec: “Got in a fight with the bench press. I lost.”
Zero2Cool (3-May) : Jordan Love CAN sign an extension as of today. Might tak weeks/months though
TheKanataThrilla (3-May) : Packers decline 5th year option for Stokes
Mucky Tundra (3-May) : @ProFootballTalk Jaylen Warren: Steelers' special teams coach has discussed Justin Fields returning kicks.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Season officially ending tonight for Bucks ... sad face
Zero2Cool (2-May) : Giannis Antetokounmpo is listed as out for tonight's game.
dfosterf (2-May) : Surprisingly low initially is my guess cap wise, but gonna pay the piper after that
dfosterf (2-May) : The number on Love is going to be brutal.
Zero2Cool (2-May) : May 3rd. Extension day for Jordan Love. (soonest)
Zero2Cool (1-May) : USFL MVP QB Alex McGough moved to WR. So that's why no WR drafted!
earthquake (1-May) : Packers draft starters at safety ever few years. Collins, Clinton-Dix, Savage
beast (1-May) : Why can't the rookies be a day 1 starter? Especially when we grabbed 3 of them at the position
dfosterf (1-May) : Not going to be shocked if Gilmore goes to the Lions.
dfosterf (1-May) : I hear you dhazer, but my guess would be Gilmore Colts and Howard Vikings from what little has been reported.
Mucky Tundra (30-Apr) : S learn from McKinney who learns from Hafley who learns from the fans. Guaranteed Super Bowl
Zero2Cool (30-Apr) : could*
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Safeties should learn from Xavier.
dhazer (29-Apr) : And what about grabbing a Gilmore or Howard at CB ? Those are all Free Agents left
dhazer (29-Apr) : out of curiosity do they try and sign Simmons or Hyde to let these young safeties learn from, they can't be day 1 starters.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : I miss having Sam Shields.
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : Not that he's making excuses, just pointing it out
Zero2Cool (29-Apr) : That's for dang sure. Make our erratic kicker have no excuse!
packerfanoutwest (28-Apr) : having a great long snapper is gold
Zero2Cool (28-Apr) : LaFleur looking like he had some weight. Coachin will do that lol
