So let me get this straight: We are supposed to react to an attack that occurred nigh on a decade ago by treating our own citizens with disrespect? I will never accept such a notion. It is impossible to be both fully free and completely safe. The feeling of safety is nothing more than an illusion anyway. I will cheerfully trade a little of that illusion of safety for the right to live as I see fit.

Don't get me wrong. I love America and I am happy to live here. But I love my wife and girlfriends too, and I'm not afraid to call them out when they're full of shit. I'm definitely not afraid to call my country out when she's full of shit too.

+1. Good to see someone gets it.

Don't treat me like a criminal in my own country. Period.

If someone goes nuts in a plane, it is EVERYONE'S responsibility to take him down. 9/11 should have never happened. It happened because people were afraid of dying. Being afraid of dying, guess what? They died anyways.

In a terrorist situation, accept you're dead anyways. Just accept it. Then do what needs to be done to take out the mother fucker with you.

The TSA should be abolished. I'd rather have my tax money spent elsewhere, like paying down the deficit. I feel more unease with the TSA retards then before the TSA existed.

I don't want to be touched or fondled. Period. I don't like being touched by strangers.

If the rest of you are content being touched and fondled by strangers to FEEL safer, then I seriously wonder where our country is headed.

Remember what Ben Franklin said about trading Freedom for security. Bad move.

So we all should be able to carry whatever we want upon the plane.. knifes, blades, guns.. of course not.

While I am not impressed with a number of the TSA folks.. I think they have the logical place for the security methods pegged correctly.. when checking into the airport.. from there.. you are free as a bird.

Long and the Short of it is due to the somewhat delicate nature of the travel.. and the large number of people aboard, measures need to be in place.. not just for a terrorist.. but for the dregs of society.

Flying aboard a public transportation method is not a right.. make one argument stating it is a right and you should be free of any security methods deemed appropriate by the companies or transportation authority.. this point needs to be proven before we even debate the question of effective methods.

I will take my chances with anyone on board with a level non weapons playing field..

Americans since 9/11 have made Osama bin Laden look like a genius.

Osama bin Laden wins. America heads even closer towards police state status. After all, that's what they want. bin Laden got what he wanted.

To the American people - nice going, dumbasses.

I'm not debating or arguing, I'm trying to figure this out by asking the following.

What is it that Osama bin Laden wanted? And why?

How are the American people dumbasses? I happen to be an American and I'm not sure what I did here to be labeled a dumbass.

i'd say blaming the victims takes this a bit far. none of us has a clear understanding of what took place on those planes so i think it's horribly unfair to place blame.

i think alot of the restrictions need to be lifted. especially the liquids part. for cripes sake - it cramps my entire hair styling & makeup wearing abilities!!! lol.

as for you, mr. twinkster...i think when u came outta the gate with 'for fucks sake, etc' when addressing what tripp said, it kinda seemed like an attack.

you really don't offend me, to be honest...at least, not yet. πŸ˜‰

Really? A Police state.. come on ZS... explain how we are anywhere near a police state?

We increased security on public transportation, our borders and large events.. other than that.. what really has changed? Little.

Someone will bring up the wiretapping / monitoring but honestly you don't think the our government wasn't doing that prior? They made it public to appear that more is being done to secure this country.. when in reality.. I am quite confident that it was in place well before.

Before 9/11, we still had security measures. They were fine.

I took knives on the plane regularly as I went everywhere with knives. Imagine if everyone did. 9/11 would have never happened. You'd have probably 4 dead civilians vs 4 dead terrorists on every flight. Sucks, yes, but to be treated like a criminal in your own country is much, much worse.

Best of all, the dead terrorists don't get their virgins. We win. They lose.

I think NSD addressed the police state issue. I can't believe how everyone else (besides Wade) thinks it's okay to be fondled by the state for security. My friend's 14-year-old daughter had her breasts fondled by the TSA pervert. How does that make our country safer?

I used to not mind flying. OK, check in my guns. No big deal as I get them back when I get off the plane but if anyone hijacked it in front of me, they'd get their throats slit. I've always wondered how good my Kali/Escrima skills were.

Now I'm treated like a fucking criminal every time I fly.

Maybe it's ok for those who rarely travel. I'm traveling all the time. It matters to me.

Last time I flew to Vegas, it took 3 fucking hours to get on the fucking plane, not including flight time. It took 8 hours to drive. They confiscated the chick in front of me's cigarette lighter. If she could steal a plane with a cigarette lighter, by all means, she deserves to get the plane.

Have we really become this pussified as a nation?

The other side to that is if you're on a plane, lean back your chair and it spills some water on the passenger behind him ... he's already having a bad day ... he's possibly going to take out that knife and slit your throat before you know what happened.

Living in fear of such antics is not freedom either.

Drive to Vegas then.. avoid the hassle of checking in.. I personally have flown out of at least 20 to 25 different airports.. Boston (Logan) about six months after the attacks and I have never had security hold me up for more than maybe a half hour.. Denver, Vegas, LA, Orlando, NY, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas wasn't near that.. and trust me.. I am flagged every time I go through because I have to be checked extra..

Tightest security was Phoenix, AZ btw..

I am a gun carrying.. pocket knife at all times person and I have no issue with security measures being enforced.

The particular TSA agent should be reported.. pat downs have to be same sex.. so at the very least the agent in question violated the rules set forth..

Layout a better plan for ensuring that weapons don't make it aboard the aircraft?

Your argument is that if we carried knifes aboard... 9/11 would have never happened.. well under today's rules, without inside help, the terrorist won't either.. correct?

Zero - Anti-gunners use that argument all the time. I beat someone up once when I was carrying a gun. A bunch of times when I had a pocket knife (and got my *** kicked a bunch of times when carrying a pocket knife as well).

I never once thought to use the weapons. I had pocket knives in school because in my generation, boys did that. They brought pocket knives to school. Anyone who whipped it out and actually used it on someone was a pussy.

Pack - I want to fly to Vegas. Much faster before the TSA had to ruin it. I wonder how much financial damage the TSA has done to Vegas.

As for your last question, no, wrong. It's a simple numbers game. 96 good guys. 4 terrorists. Half the good guys won't do shit as half of people are scared of everything. You and I both know this. The other half will do something as soon as someone else does something.

As for inside people, how many? It would take a lot. Usually in a mass knife fight, it's usually a 1 for 1 deal. You don't have to be Bruce Lee. You got tight quarters. You'll be stabbed or cut. You might live. You might bleed to death. Still, even an unarmed person with a pillow is dangerous in close quarters as they can thrust forward and take you down without you having a chance to cut him to death.

The truth about Flight 93 is it was shot down by our own plane. It's a shame as we (the good guys) most likely took it back. We can only speculate, but they most likely attacked with pillows and closed fists. I've only been punched by three people at a time. I can't imagine being hit by 10 at a time. That would suck, no matter how tough you are.

So inserting weapons is going to help how?

Personally speaking.. I would like my chances better hand to hand combat then worrying if my weapons is comparable to theirs..

Some of the varibles that we don't know about 9/11:

How the attacks started upon the planes.

Did any passengers / crew fight back or even died prior to the crashes, we know on flight 93 they fought back.. but the others we know nothing concrete.

If weapons for the passengers would have helped.

While I agree that a good number of Americans are gutless.. but doesn't that make the argument more for security in place?
