Police are investigating a member of the Green Bay Packers in connection with an alleged sexual assault Saturday morning at a condo in Lake Delton.

Police said seven Packers were at a condo where two women said the assault occurred.

Six Packers were interviewed and released. Police said they don't believe they were involved in the alleged assault.

Police said in a news release that they interviewed and released a seventh Packer and that they're still investigating whether he was involved in an assault. Police are still interviewing two women who reported that they were assaulted at the condo.

According to the police news release:

Police reached the two women at 4:17 a.m. who had called 911. The two women pointed out a rental condo at the Wilderness Resort Golf Cabins, saying they were assaulted there. They said they believed more than one person was involved in the assault.

Officers asked seven men in the condo to come to the Police Department for interviews. Police released six of the men after their interviews, saying they didn't suspect those men in any illegal activity.

The seventh man was interviewed and released, pending further investigation.

Packers player investigated after allegation of sexual assaults in Lake Delton

Jane Burns 608-252-6440 | Posted: Saturday, June 5, 2010 3:45 pm

Seven Green Bay Packers were interviewed Saturday as part of an investigation of two alleged sexual assaults at a rental condominium at Wilderness Resort Golf Cabins in Lake Delton.

Lake Delton police identified six of the players that were interviewed but were not considered suspects in the case. A seventh member of the Packers was also interviewed and released but his involvement is still under investigation by the Lake Delton Police Department. His name was not released.

Police interviewed and released Matt Flynn, Joshua Sitton, Korey Hall, Brad Jones, Clay Matthews and Khalil Jones.

According to information released by the Lake Delton Police Department, at 4:17 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a 911 call after two women reported they had been sexually assaulted. The victims directed officers to the condominium where the alleged sexual assaults took place.

Officers made contact with seven male occupants of the condo and based on initial statements made by the women that more then one person was involved in the alleged assault, officers asked all seven to come to the police department to be interviewed.

The release said all seven men cooperated in the investigation and after the two women were interviewed, six of the men were allowed to leave. Police said the six are not suspected of any criminal activity.

I hope its just one of our camp bodies. If it's someone important to this team...I don't know what I'd do

I hope that it's no one. Really, they haven't actually figured anything out yet. It's just that a couple of Packers were questioned. One might or might not've done something. I'll see how this works out first.

Packers player admits sexual contact, claims there was consent

By Mike Florio

The still-unnamed member of the Green Bay Packers who is under investigation for sexual assault reportedly has admitted having sexual contact with the alleged victims. (Yes, victims.) However, the player claims that the contact with the two women was consensual, according to Charles Davis of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

The women claim there was no consent. The women also initially claimed that more than one player was involved. Police interviewed seven Packers; six of them are not suspected of criminal misconduct.

The unnamed player becomes the third NFL player accused of sexual assault in less than a year. Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has faced two such claims. A civil suit filed earlier this year alleges that Colts defensive tackle Eric Foster sexually assaulted a hotel worker on the morning of the AFC Championship in January.

Though the six-game suspension imposed on Roethlisberger likely will trigger speculation that the unnamed Packer will face similar treatment even without an arrest, keep in mind that the league looks to pounce preemptively only on repeat offenders.

"If somebody's showing a pattern of behavior and a series of misjudgments, we should find out what that is and try to deal with the problem," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told me during an interview that will appear in the upcoming PFT Season Preview magazine. "I'm not going to wait for somebody to get thrown into jail."

In this case, the unnamed Packer could get thrown in jail. But the league most likely won't intervene until the matter is resolved, unless the player in question has prior issues under the Personal Conduct Policy.
