Right now.. he is pretty one dimensional in the pass rush... if he doesn't beat them around the corner on the outside.. he generally his contained.

That is not a knock on the young linebacker.. just a hope of things to come from him.. a toolbox of pass rushing tricks.

Yeah i would agree. CM is relatively small for the prototypical OLB position, and you can see he uses that speed and endless motor to get after the QB and get sacks more than anything. That said he does have some surprising strength and power that i really did not expect from him as a rookie.

But he offsets this by being relatively good in all other areas.

That's why I think that we really need that DE/OLB on the other side. Matthews is the kind of guy that you occasionally rush, but could function very well as a 4-3 OLB, as well, where he's asked to drop into coverage more etc. That's what makes his 10 sacks on the year even more impressive.

That said, he can do some work on his strength, bull rushing moves etc. If he can work on that, the sky's the limit for him. I don't think that he'll ever be comparable to Ware, but our guy on the other side might be.

I agree he is not at the Ware level in terms of moves, HOWEVER just a rookie and already has what you cant really force on a guy which is work ethic and desire, the rest will come with time

He is so young though he has so much potential, I really think that he will be able learn some new techniques especially with Greene coaching him.
