After a very good performance by the Packers' special teams against the Eagles, the question is this: Can they do it again?
The Bills will be a good test. They have one of the best punters in the league--Brian Moorman, who as far as I'm concerned was the MVP of that ugly, low-scoring Bills win over the Packers in 2006. Don't expect Tramon Williams to have a lot of chances for good returns. DO expect him to have to make some difficult fair catches. That's not something to be taken for granted. I'm glad to have him back there instead of some of the other players who were considered for the job.
The Bills also have a very good kick returner, C.J. Spiller. This will be a test for the kick coverage team.
The Packers are looking stronger at kicker and punter than they have in years. Mason Crosby had a very good training camp and nailed two long field goals in Philadelphia. They were right down the middle and the longer one, at least, would've been good from well over 60 yards. And Tim Masthay looks like a more solid punter that Jeremy Kapinos ever did.
I would love to see the kickoff return team open up some holes for Jordy Nelson like they did last week. If they do, I think Jordy will hit them at full speed again. It could happen. Confidence is contagious.
Like a lot of Packer fans, I'd be happy with an average performance from our special teams this year. This could be the year. Should we even dare to hope that they might be above average? Well, maybe not just yet, but with another solid performance, it may begin too look possible.
